The red dragon was a symbol of the Brittons.. so it covered most of what's currently England and Wales.
Maybe Wales should be looking for a new flag...if not just to move further away from associating with England

I've seen a bit of discussion of this - suggestions involve sticking a bit of green on what's left of the Union Jack but I think you really need a dragon.
