BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

You have to admit he has a point
I didn't use the phrase in quotes he's attributed to me, for one.

James Watt may have autism and ADHD, that's very true. I'm not immune from those tendencies either and I know the damaging effects of them.

Unfortunately, we're not dealing with a man or a company whose sudden pronouncements can be taken at face value, and to suddenly get 750-word puff pieces in the tabloids about his struggles on the back of yet more criticism of Brewdog smacks of his usual tactics.

I usually deplore cynicism in people and I don't want to sit here doing a "chinny reckon" to a man who might have taken constructive steps to deal with his personal problems. But let's not be distracted. He's a man who has been backed into a corner by his actions, his words, and his lack of professionalism. His company is a tainted brand. His PR is inflated, insincere, and often breaks advertising guidelines.

I'm unlikely to take at face value anything he says.

Spymaster will be flattered by this promotion to being my spokesperson.
you both seem to be avoiding the point I wonder why that is :)

Bit hypocritical don't you think? Pretending someone's said it's a "fake disorder" when they haven't, while you ignore the accusations of abuse by multiple staff members.

Just to confirm, are you and Spy really calling the ex staff members liars?

And by the by, I used to be hoodwinked by Brewdog. I used to believe the hype; I paid good money to go to a "tasting session" where a PR woman paired food with the latest releases and made a lot of money from the assembly of fans. I drank Tactical Nuclear Penguin and Sink the Bismarck and all that and thought myself ever so hip and cool for being part of the Brewdog "scene"

Only, all that was years ago. Decades. I realised what BD was turning into and what it was turning me into. They did a lot of good for the "craft" scene at their launch and we all had fun at the time trying something different. I used to believe them. I used to subscribe to their teachings.

My taste in beer matured. BD are stuck in their heyday and can't get out.

Errrm so saying this bloke has a "fake disorder" (which despite teuchter's quote marks I can't actually see was a real quote) is wrong ...

I don't think Teuchter did actually say it was wrong.

He suggested, obliquely, that such accusations often cause hypertensive hissy-fits among the Urban pearl-clutchers, some of whom are regular contributors to this thread, and further speculated that they'd likely be silent in this case.

It's a veiled charge of hypocrisy.

Indeed, when the hypocrisy actually seems to be on your side.

Are you calling the ex staff members liars when they say they were abused? Or are they just having hissy fits, too?

I don't know - you seem to be ignoring it at the very least. Otherwise, why would you keep defending a company who abused its staff? Do you not feel that's slightly more important than how good their marketing strategy is?

Can't help noticing that you have never on this thread specifically denied that you believe 100 puppies should be bludgeoned to death with bottles of Brewdog beer, each day of the year except, in a demonstration of His mercy, on James Watt's birthday.

Now who looks like the Brewdog fanboy eh?

Funny I've not seen that accusation on the thread, while I have seen accusations of abuse of staff which you don't seem to be much bothered about. Still, it's the marketing that's important, not workers.

You should have put all that in made up quotes by the way.

That's the game here. One group pretends that they actually care about Brewdog working conditions; the other provides counterpoint in order to facilitate a 200 page thread.

It's on the thread now though, and you're dodging denying it. Interesting.

And the same two posters add a few more pages acting like Brewdog's honour guard. I still can't fathom you out, I've just gone back a few hundred pages and you two are working away, defending Brewdog against each and every accusation like you're working for their PR department.

I genuinely can't decide if you're trolling, if you even like Brewdog, I don't know what your "game" is.

While you've not denied thrashing a cat to an inch of its life. Very interesting.

All to deflect from you and Spy "pretending that they actually care" (see what I did there :) ) about an ADHD diagnosis.

not only will your artwork be immortalised on the label, but you’ll also get a VIP trip to our Ellon brewery, a pair of British Airways Euro Traveller flights to a destination of your choice, and a year’s supply of Speedbird OG too

A great opportunity for editor surely ;)

Is there no end to the venal behaviour of these arrant scumbags. This is clearly a shameless attempt to procure artwork for FREE!

You have to admire the marketing here though. They've solidly associated Brewdog, with one of Britain's most iconic companies, British Airways, and as a result firmly linked a Scottish company to British red, white, and blue, cementing the bond between the two nations. Truly admirable stuff.

We've already done a beer and it was such a good brand, the the Brixton Brewery (aka Heineken) ripped it off!
Amd unlike Brewdog we gave all the money to local charities.
I think they were suggesting you sabotage the brand with a seemingly good looking label that actually slags off the company and its practices when you examine it properly.
