BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

So what's a decent lager (yeah, yeah, I know real ale fans think there isn't one) that's not too expensive?

Estrella de Galicia is nice. Better than Estrella de Barcelona.

And of course, the infamous Stella is also quite tasty.

My all-time favourite is Mahou. Probably because I grew up with it. But that's definitely not a beer that should be drank in pint glass quantities.

Not Peroni.

I was almost right !

Prob doesn’t meet the latter criteria but Camden Hells is pretty good, nice and crisp, some flavour but not strongly so, and hitting that spot at about 4.5% which makes it a decent choice for several pints. Often served in wanker’s glasses though so vigilance when ordering is recommended… “not the vase please mate”

Thank you!

I don't get all this snobbery. If it's a beer you enjoy what has it to do with me? I might not like it but I'm not drinking it.

Vedett is nice, esp the Blonde, but suffers from a similar issue in that bars will often give it to you in a ridiculously thin glass that is difficult to steal easy to break

Christ there've been some dodgy recommendations on here. First Bud Light, which might as well be soda water, and now Camden Hells, which is produced by quite possibly the only brewery in the country that makes worse beers than Brewdog!

Bud Light is alright too. Only 3.5% which means I can have a can and it doesn't even register. And crucially it doesn't the nasty aftertaste of no-alcohol beers.
Yeah, Bud Light's drinkable, not something I'd go out of my way to drink but you can get a pint for about £2 in Wetherspoons so worth a try if you feel like a change from Doombar/Ruddles. It's a bit watery but then I literally drink water every single day so?

Amstel always gets my vote in this category, price tends to be not too far away from the Carling/Carlsberg end of the market but it's actually nice.

Stella Bock, maybe. Just couldn't get into Stella. Mahou and EdG get the thumbs up.

Have you tried Sagres?

OMG...mentioning Dark has just reminded me of some very lively evenings in the early 80's at the Royal Oak out on the Newport Road.

Yes, I like Sagres a lot. You can find them in many or most Portuguese joints in London, I think. Not sure if which supermarket might sell them...

Don't recall, either. Was an agreeable beer, though. Such a great variety and choice of beverages in London.
