BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

This is pretty good if out an Italian but not as easy to get hold of as Moretti or Peroni
iu
It's Sardinian.

It is one of the five Italian regions with some degree of domestic autonomy being granted by a special statute.[6] Its official name, Autonomous Region of Sardinia, is bilingual in Italian and Sardinian: Regione Autonoma della Sardegna / Regione Autònoma de Sardigna.[7] It is divided into four provinces and a metropolitan city. The capital of the region of Sardinia — and its largest city — is Cagliari.

Where does it mention that it is connected to the mainland? Or that they are culturally in sync with North or South Italy?

:hmm: A physical connection to the mainland has never been a determinant of the nationality of island regions. Are the Scilly Isles not part of the UK? What about the Isle of Wight or any of the other scores of islands off the English and Scottish coasts?

As far as being culturally “in sync” is concerned, they speak the same language, eat (broadly) the same food, have the same education system, have representation in the Italian Parliament, are home to over 50% of Italy’s armed forces, and their residents hold Italian passports. I’m not sure how much more cultural synchronicity you need.

Righty-oh, but in the same way that all 15 people on the Isle of Scilly might not need a geographical connection to the UK to feel part of it, then neither does centralised political domination by, say: London, Paris, or Rome make any islands belonging to those states definitive.

‘Sardist parties from different ideological backgrounds have emerged, all being in the minority, and with some of them making government coalitions of variable geometry with the statewide Italian parties. For instance, that also happened in the 2014 Sardinian regional election,[6] where the combined result of all the nationalist parties had been 26% of the votes.’

‘Sardism, made its political debut for the first time on the occasion of Ireland's independence (1921) with Lussu's theories and the Sardinian Action Party or PSd'Az (one of the oldest parties in Europe advocating for regional self-determination), got 36% of the popular vote in 1921 regional election’

So refering back to the initial question:

Is Sardinia not part of Italy?

Yes it is, politically. No it isn’t geographically. Culturally I guess it depends who you ask.

A slightly more extreme and contentious island nationality has to be the Falklands.
I only know one person who has ever been there and he was in the forces.

Fosters is another interesting marketing and branding exercise.

The first time draught Fosters was ever brewed anywhere in the world, including Australia, was in the UK. Trumans brewed it in London at their Brick Lane brewery. That was in 1981 and up til then it was only available in bottles and cans.

So really, the draught fizzpiss that we all know and hate, isn't Australian at all, but originally brewed under licence in the East End of London, and marketed as an Aussie bevvy.

It only contentious whenever the Argentine government needs a distraction.
