Boomtown 2016

Is there a site map online? I always manage to get lost trying to find the main crew camping area (the one with the late bar).

It was one hell of a fire. The campsite was evacuated for a while. But boomtown is still fucking brilliant!

long walk home is a great way to finish the weekend!
You're mean :D

Aww I hope everyone there is ok and no-one was hurt or injured because of the fire.

I bet the organisers never put loss of escape route for a chunk of punters into the contingency plan. Hope there's a friendly coach company willing to lend a hand. Maybe even punters could organise a lift share thing??

I bet they have put it in the contingency plan! And I know car park fires have been part of the table top exercises before.

I'm very interested in hearing from people when they get back how it was managed.

 shit!, glad no one hurt.
wonder if it was this towerlight that caused it!

Ours is in that car park, but not where the fire was I don't think.
derv seemed pretty sure it's not the same bit, I have to trust him :D

although we were idly wondering this morning at what point they tell people their cars have gone up - do they make a big thing of it during the festival or let them find out on Monday?

I'd be fucked if ours went up, I always leave kit, my bank cards/ID I don't need, spare cash, house keys etc in it at festivals

Do you mean trust him on Mr chainsawjob's car, or is derv's there too? Mines elsewhere, I wasn't there when he parked it.

Yeah I wonder if they'll contact people during the festival. Maybe there's a list at Info, but presumably cars have to be identified from the VIN if the number plates are destroyed, which might take some sorting idk? Mr c isn't worried enough to check.

Yeah, I leave all my bank cards, keys etc in mine too.

Crikey, there were a lot of fire engine sirens after the fireworks at Sector 6 last night :hmm: I hope all was ok. And that derv's car is too wiskey, he would have arrived after Mr c so hopefully his was even further away too.

our teenage son borrowed our car this year. I texted him after the news but all I got back was texts sounding like he's was having a great time. I guess we'll find out whether we have a car this morning. Helpfully i left the insurance documents under the driver's footwell mat :(

Still don't know for sure about mr C's, he broke his mobile and we're now headed off to different parts of the country.

Well that was magnificent, apart from getting back from the festival. The increase in capacity meant that the queue for the buses was taking over three hours and some people were feinting in the heat. I ended up walking from the festival into Winchester and it was one hell of a long walk....

I drove through the area today, was carnage on the M3 / A303 / A34, roads closed, insane traffic jams etc, Google maps did the trick and got me through via country lanes

Saw quite a few sketchy looking people / vehicles :D

Hope you all had fun and got / get home safe
