Boomtown 2016

3 hour queue to get out of lions den campervans today I've heard two stories about the cars, 1 is the ciggie one, the other being a generator that shorted (this was heard from a crew member), be interesting to see what the official story is. I also saw from a distance and heard a young girl had a cardiac arrest in lions den during Damian Marley and my friends have said there was a lot of police and a coroners car in Old Town camping this morning, so I've got a feeling there's going to be a few news stories in the next couple of days, after families have been spoken to etc.

But overall a fantastic festival for me, it never ceases to astound me how much work goes into that place. I'll do a fuller write up when I'm not nearly passing out on my feet.

Terribly sad. I went and read the stuff the other girl's family (from two years ago) had done in her memory at Whistler's Green, so sad another family has to go through this, and another life over so young

OH's car was ok.

we have our car back (covered in chalk dust) and our 19 year old... we are happy. Thoughts go to those who's lives have been messed up in big and small ways.

... also chatting with a young lad whose car was one of those destroyed who told us all the festival had offered him was a lift to Winchester Station. We told him to go back & kick up a fuss because others had heard taxis would be provided to take all those affected home.

I had to wait for Alice and Derek otherwise we'd have been out then.

We joined the queue about 12.30...... finally made it to the road about 3.15.

Dear all,

We have decided to not release tickets to the Winter Gathering today, we feel that it would not be appropriate at this time to go ahead with the event as previously planned and are therefore cancelling the scheduled 10th December Bath and West showground event.

Although there were many amazing things that happened at the festival last weekend, the incidents that did occur, we feel we should take some time to take stock of.

As a very close team with so much love for the community that is created at Boomtown, we are absolutely devastated by the news of our festival attendee who tragically passed away. Our thoughts are with the young lady’s family, friends and loved ones.

We are also currently going through the process to follow up individually with all those affected by the fire, and feel that focussing our energy on these incidents is where it is best placed at this time.

Looking ahead, we want to put all our efforts and focus into making Chapter 9 the best show and festival in every capacity, and we hope you’ll join us on that journey.

I've been looking out for her stuff though, and I really liked her on that reggae sound with Mungos hifi, but it doesn't sound like she's recorded much stuff like that. What was her solo act like?
