To be fair they were ruddy great when I saw them two years ago, and I don't normally like them much at all.I thought levellers were MainStage headliners..... they're not.
Im quite glad of this.
sooner or later at Boomtown, or somewhere else, someones going to get sniffed at the gates, have their stash taken off them and be given the token slapped wrist or caution before being let in anyway as is generally the case, because after all, none of this fucking matters. but then they're going to resort to buying some shit off some cunt that will kill them. i fail to see how even Hampshire police can honest think that taking everyones little bits of personal bought from their known and trusted suppliers and forcing them to go and buy shit off the total strangers floating around inside is in any way safer. It's probably one of the quickest ways to get a good look at what prohibition is all about. There's never less drugs, just shitter stuff.

Long time since I've seen them but yeah they have some songs I really like.To be fair they were ruddy great when I saw them two years ago, and I don't normally like them much at all.
Well quitesooner or later at Boomtown, or somewhere else, someones going to get sniffed at the gates, have their stash taken off them and be given the token slapped wrist or caution before being let in anyway as is generally the case, because after all, none of this fucking matters. but then they're going to resort to buying some shit off some cunt that will kill them. i fail to see how even Hampshire police can honest think that taking everyones little bits of personal bought from their known and trusted suppliers and forcing them to go and buy shit off the total strangers floating around inside is in any way safer.
if anything, all its its doing is guarenteeing extra business for the dealers that do get on site. i've never met anyone at Boomtown who got pinched at the gate and then decided to abstain as a result.
Hampshire police are cunts.
Sad to see the Bodyshop go, banging lineup on its replacement though.
They've kind of split it in 2 though haven't they, the sewage works fro the breakcore side of it, and robotika for the hardcore side of it.
I don't like all this splitting genres up though, keep it all as one!
I don't either, the Bodyshop was a good rep for our multi-genre freeparty scene. It's a shame that Boomtown seems to be moving further and further away from what I think made it special (at least what drew me in when I first went); established crews doing their thing within a loose theme. You can't buy that atmosphere. Go to an Enjoy Kaos night and it's Bodyshop, Erisian and it's the Tek Shop, Jungle Syndicate and it's the Prohibition Den etc etc. I really didn't like the palace last year, had zero atmosphere during the day (and even at night, while pretty impressive it just felt to me like a Tomorrowland stage with a Boomtown theme slapped on) and in the end it was just another big festival stage that gets dismantled at the end. I can't imagine Tribe are going to be around for much longer with the whole other seperate psy area and I get the impression the Bodyshop crew didn't exactly bow out by choice. I'm guessing that, judging by the amount of fundraising nights you see going on, they're trying to get away from being reliant on essentially volunteer crews, but who knows.
Anyway, I guess it's not really my place to criticise, obviously it's still miles ahead of 99% of festivals in terms of effort and production values, and I don't want to see it go.
Fair point. What do you mean by supportive? I'm not doubting you, I'm just genuinely interested how it all works. I assumed that the crew run venues are essentially paid for by fundraisers and the dj's getting a free ticket. For example Mandidextrous posted recently that this year was the first time she's been booked to play officially, despite playing I think 4 or 5 sets last year. Just to put it out there, I'm definitely not saying that they're trying to fuck anyone over.
Yeah only once, not lived in Brighton for years.
I was expecting those to cost a packet but £38 isn't so bad if you need those sort of comforts (I don't!).they defo had ones where you pay, there like these box ones you get in, self contained type thing.
but as with any festival you need to wait a while.
if she wants to use them a few times invest in the one of these:
