Boomtown 2014 - new plans

I noticed on the boomtown forum threads keep popping up asking for "teen tickets"...... I hope its not going to be awash with 16 year olds replacing breaking their festival v plates with boomtown instead of reading :hmm:

Although one of them points out theres going to be police dogs on the gates at all times. Its starting to sound like its going to be a reverse of escape from colditz just getting in :(

Yeah let's move on from Stuart.

I liked the fact that Glade had a no 13-18 rule, it took out a lot of the questions and twats

i seem to know various large contingents of people who are going (i'm only 18 myself, thankfully just out of that pretty fairly scorned age bracket), some of whom are probably very annoying to anyone aged 22 or over, so i reckon it's gonna be pretty young. hyped as fuck for it though, gonna be my first boomtown.

Well stick to the downtown, let the oldies keep uptown ;)

You'll enjoy it, just dont get so cunted you can't remember your own name and end up face down in a pile of your own vomit, save that for when you start going to squat parties :D

There were loads of young uns last year, maybe it's a 'party before we get our exam results' thing

There were loads of younguns when I went a few years ago staggering about on ketamin, don't know why it bothers people, I was a youngun once.

I was too...

The reason I liked the no teenagers rule at Glade was because there is a very obvious difference between a 12yo and an 18yo, so it negates all the 'is this person old enough to shag/give drugs to/be going off into the Woods alone' type questions, which in turn makes the festival more relaxed... by definition everyone is an adult, everyone is on a level.

Also whilst we may all have been young once it wasn't cool watching 14yos get fucked and being vulnerable then and it's not nice to see now.

Yeah I've noticed it certainly last year, previously to that it wasn't so bad...... maybe I've just crossed the old/young threshold and really noticed it now. The first year I went I swear everyone was about my age (mid twenties then).

The problem boomtown has had and is trying to sort with k particularly I genuinely don't think its the drugs, I think its the age of the people that are going and doing them, I think thats also the problem with tent theiving, they're going along to pray on the foolish teenagers with their smart phones, and pocket money they've been saving for ages.

Whilst I dont like the idea of events making it over 21, I can see why they do so.

been to many squat parties since i was about 15, getting robbed/nearly stabbed a few times has put me off em a bit now, though they're still a laugh when they're not full of fucking moronic cracksmoking skinheads playing congo natty for the 15th time in one set

where the hell are you going? Head to the countryside ;)

Shaggy, Alabama 3 and The Skatalites now added to the bill.

Here's their latest press release:

Im excited about all of that, except the cat empire.

I had an ex drag me to see them, they just sound like a slightly more proficient maroon 5

I've seen the cat empire more than once and loved them every time. They really know how to get a crowd going.

A slightly random request, but is there any sort of Urbanite camp planned this year? I've got a ticket, but due to change in relationship circumstances since I bought it, no longer have anyone to go with. Not looking to hang out with people 24/7, I tend to bimble off by myself at festivals a bit anyway, just would be nice not to be camping entirely solo.

I don't think there's plans yet but i'm happy to coordinate with you.

Same kind of thing happened to me last year and ended up camping next to some nice guys so i'm sure you'll be fine in any case.

Ah cool, that'd be ace. Can finally tell you what I do at Glasto if we meet too :).

Am tempted to take a punt on just camping next to nice people, but every other time I've done Boomtown I've ended up camping next to some right wonky donkeys, not great for conversation. This was back when Boomtown was still basically Recydrate the West though *feels old*. Would prefer camping with Urbanites anyway.

cool, beats my plan of finding anyone in a pink tutu and a hi viz and shouting 'urban?!' at them. :)

yeah tbh on the other side there were a few like that. oh well, that's what you get for going to a festival a week before A level results come out!

Balls, I'm in a crew camp with a bunch of people I don't know well ... but it's expected I'll camp there otherwise it would have been good. Would be nice to meet up for a pint or something.
