Bolton's Fabrice Muamba "not breathing." Game vs Spurs abandoned

Sorry if it's not intended to be, but that post on its own reads as a bit of petty willy-waving.
I was trying to politely suggest you steer away from pronouncing on law. Even if you think otherwise, it is not your strong suit. But hey.

Whatever you were "trying" to do, all you've succeeded in doing is demonstrating how far your head is wedged up your own arse. Again.

According to the standard this evening, a senior cardiac specialist from the London Chest Hospital was in the crowd and came on to the pitch to assist and insisted he went to that hospital and went in the ambulance with him.

How lucky is that.

Given that he had at least 5 minutes of CPR just on the pitch, let alone how long it was afterwards until they got his heart beating again, I would normally have thought brain damage would be a virtual certainty. In this case though, he apparently got an oxygen mask on very quickly - I'd think that will have improved his chances significantly. Hope so anyway.

Just come across this

(Reuters) - Bolton Wanderers' Fabrice Muamba has been able to recognise family members and respond to questions appropriately after suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup quarter-final, the hospital said on Monday.

Sounds promising

Where's that from, Minnie? The ITV news tonight just said he'd shown minor improvements but was still critical.

That's fantastic news if it is the case though. :)

Was a bit wary of putting it up as I've not seen it anywhere else. Plenty of reports of him having spoken, but nothing about him answering questions appropriately

oh, and you're pretty much always classed as critical as long as you're in ICU from my experience

Being moved out of ICU is normally a good sign. Staying out of ICU is even better

I heard a report on BBC Radio that he could answer appropriately and recognise family members. If it is true that must be good news.

Oh for sure, but the fact he's come round at all must be a big relief in itself.

True, but being in hospital can make you iller than when you went in ;). As for coming round, it was the hospital who sedated him anyway wasn't it, so they probably just took him off sedation

Anyhow, I'm hopeful

Although what you say is true, MInnie, I expect if it was your son, or brother on life support, you would be immensely relieved too if they brought him round from sedation and he opened his eyes again. It doesn't matter how much they tell you not to get 'over excited', it is incredibly hard not to jump for joy at the smallest of things.

I know

there is an interview with the Bolton Club Doctor on this link

its worth reading the text as well as there is a bit more in that than the interview

he was effectively dead for 78 minutes. remarkeable story this

i am slightly in awe that the human body/brain can be artificially sustained for that period to the point where just a few days later someone can even speak again (i know he isn't out of the woods yet of course)

eta - i just noticed there is a video with the Cardiologist who ran on the pitch as well

Interesting, wonder when it will become clear what his future state will be. Promising noises in that article.

Well maybe, although there are some rumours going around in the medical fraternity about this case. That all that happened was he had a fainting fit and the cardiac event was triggered by the electric shock treatment given to him. There's no way to prove it - it's just based on his suspiciously quick recovery.

A lot of doctors and medical personel would have to be implicated in any such conspiracy.
