BBC presenter Huw Edwards suspended over paying for sexual pics.

I wonder how many they do get.

There's probably enough that the HR department has a special section dedicated to dealing with them
Was listening to the actual BBC news yesterday and seem to remember mention of around 200 issues a week? (or month? can't remember :D  ) - so a lot to investigate. Many are completely unfounded, and involve people with MH/parasocial issues. The complaint sorting process is just slow and ineffective - maybe the BBC needs more people working on this. Pay Gary Lineker a bit less and hire more staff to deal with complaints? ;)

Surely I'm not the only thinking The Sun/DM/conspiraloons are using this as a stick to beat the BBC with - there's a lot of people who think of it as biased and part of the "MSM liars/manipulators". When in fact this is a man who behaved potentially unlawfully, but it's not just a BBC problem, it's a "famous, powerful man" problem that is endemic. There's too much good on the BBC and some bad - but sadly those who hate the BBC are looking for any excuse to shut it down.

The Instagram messages are boringly not very shocking :D I mean, I don't think men in their 60s should be chatting with teens on social media as a general rule. But it's hardly a scandal, is it?
Kind of in the same category of yuck as Leonardo DiCaprio and his forever 21 year old girlfriends.

I can see the perspective of the mother who made the initial complaint - if your teenage child has a crack habit and is funding it by selling sexual content to a very famous and wealthy older man, of course you are going to try to cut off that income. Not sure I understand going to the Sun though.

His behaviour is totally ick and grim, but I also wonder how many of the Twitter morally outraged are straight on Pornhub looking up young teen/step daughter vids.

It’s funny, the way we draw boundaries. Mine is probably about 20 - I wouldn’t look to go below, and I’d have no interest in anyone still at school. But I can see that someone in their 30’s or even older could legitimately meet a 17 year old in somewhere like a bar, and a mutual attraction could naturally develop.
All good, but only buy them a coke.

Oh feck, there's 25 pages I haven't read yet!

S*n has blighted people's lives so much over the years. Hillsborough, underage phwoar grossness, homophobia etc

But am guessing that more than likely these days the protesters will be found outside the BBC offices, rarely the s*n?
Exactly this.

We can't go from "Fuck The Sun" to "Let's respect The Sun for their brave reporting of the truth" just because of this one story.

My OH used to regularly receive letters when working on the ITN newsdesk from people with MH issues complaining about X,Y,Z or saying Princess Di was murdered by Prince Philip. He said there was usually a lot of underlining! :D

He also once fielded a complaint while on the BBC Newsdesk from someone who wanted to complain about Lizzie Bardsley (remember her?) and her benefit payments. His conversation went something like this:

Him: But why are you calling me?
Random: Because she's just been Wife Swap and it's outrageous that she claims thousands in benefits from the taxpayer
Him: But Wife Swap isn't even on the BBC! It's on C4

:D:D:D

Isn't it a bit cold over there?

[Exits smutty mode and reassumes normal lofty tone]

we went to iceland in march and the temperature when we got off in keflavik was the same as when we got on in new york.
greenland has ice, and iceland has (some) green.
