Avoiding meat and dairy is ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your impact on Earth

You have any evidence at all of that happening any time soon?

I didnt even know that farm existed til you posted about it. But knowing how Corkonians like to outdo each other it wouldn't surprise me if they went emmissions free just to better the co-op farm

😁

There is no such thing as zero emissions dairy farming! It is a biological impossibility surely? Perhaps they are getting to net zero but that is not the same thing.

I have no idea.
I just found the UCC project with the four farms very interesting.
I guess we will know whether they can actually manage zero emissions or not when they finish their project.

Changing the way we farm is hugely important for climate so this is an interesting and important project. But they are mixing up language 'climate neutral' 'net zero' and 'zero emissions' that don't all mean the same thing which doesn't inspire confidence. That's probably down to PR spin rather than the academics working on it I guess.

They won't manage zero emissions.

I am no expert. But you may well be correct.

All joking aside, I do actually admire a lot of vegans; whilst I don't have the will (or self-control) to deny myself the pleasures of meat and animal products, veganism is undeniably a morally superior position* both for the planet and the suffering of other sentient creatures. And, whilst it might be a bit more work to get a balanced diet, it's clearly possible (at least in adults) - look at vegan athletes.

*I used to find a lot of vegans smug, but, on reflection, I don't think they were actually doing anything - I was projecting my own nagging conscience onto them. Despite the teasing, I've a lot more time for veganism now I'm reconciled to my own failings.

If you do get caught Saul, remember to tell the Guarda that you're doing it for the cheese and not for kicks. Bestiality still seems to be prosecuted under section 61 of the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act

Just to beat Athos to it, it's now prosecuted under the Sexual Offences 2003. :)
