Assange seeks asylum in Ecuador embassy, London

The best thing for Wikileaks would be to get this useless dead-end and waste of energy behind them. Can't realistically see that happening soon, though. Assange may fear being sent to a military prison, but Manning is already facing this situation. I bet his defence team could do with 200,000 quid.

If the Swedish and US states really cared about justice, they would come out and quite clearly and categorically state that they would not extradite Assange to the US. Their failure to do so is completely unfair on the women who made these allegations.

Nation-states are required, in open situations like this, to adhere to the laws they profess to uphold, therefore neither the US or Sweden can issue a statement that would gainsay the laws they profess to uphold, because that would be visibly illegal, and with absolutely no element of deniability that can be appealed to.

Most EU countries, including Sweden will not extradite people to the US if there's a chance of them being put on death row. At least according to a legal expert you can listen to here: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/gruppsida.aspx?programid=2054&grupp=13199&artikel=5162615

Cant really blame St Julian of Assange for ducking the Swedes. He probably fears being extradited to the U.S. (and subsequently executed) by them. Quite right too.

The fucking arrogance of that spymaster - no one on this thread is worth bothering with, they'll have said nothing, not like what i can offer - i'll go in at the end.

I can't really blame him, either, considering the US track record. But the facts seem to show that there's no way he could be extradited to face the death penalty. I think that a lot of time and energy has been sacrificed Tommy-Sheridan-style, in order to prevent one man from facing unpalatable sex allegations.

A lot of mugs have been used/used this.

You're right. He wouldn't face the death penalty. He could face the rest of his life in solitary confinement, though.

Well come on, the Swedes are well known immoral fuckers. They'd send him to his death at the hands of the Yankees, sure as shit. And rape laws are different in Sweden.

Back now is it? Any chance of a reply to my earlier posts?
What is there to reply to? If he is being fitted up, he's doing exactly the right thing by trying his best to avoid extradition. Five years in a Swedish jail with the possibility of extradition to the US at the end of it, for something he didn't do. And my opinion of the evidence - what I've seen of it - is, as I said in the last thread, that it is a long way short of anything anyone should be extradited over (which was also the initial opinion of the Swedish authorities before they mysteriously changed their minds).

This:

Ok, let's do it. Has he been set up? If you think so then the charge "unlawful coercion" during sex (that's just one of the charges) are necessarily false right? If not then they might be true right? Are we agreed on that?

What evidence have you seen and what of it makes you think it's a set up? You ignored that question too.

The Swedish authorities have made the evidence available to you in full in advance of the trial in order to facilitate your doubtless perfect judgement on the matter? Congratulations. Makes you wonder why they bother having a trial at all, really.

I don't know whether or not he has been set up. I'd say it looks that way, though. If he has, he's doing the right thing trying all he can to avoid extradition.
