Assange seeks asylum in Ecuador embassy, London

Actually my argument has been fairly clear, now I look back. It has been why it seems Assange is not willing to go to Sweden: because he fears extradition to the US if he does. Really simple, and pretty obvious. I suspect people have a problem with that because they want me to be arguing something else, i.e. what Assange should do. I've never said he shouldn't go to Sweden, merely that I can understand why he isn't. Neither am I going to argue that he shouldn't go to Sweden, in fact I believe the opposite.

but why on earth should he think extradition to the US is more likely from sweden than the UK?

This has not been your argument at all. Your argument was that he should fight going to Sweden with all he's got for a host of reasons that you inexpertly lifted from Burke/Pilger. Now you've bothered doing a bit more reading you're reversing as fast as you can whilst pretending that you meant to drive up there all along. Have some dignity.

What does a UK extradition have to do with it?
because - obviously, I'd've thought, if the chances of the US successfully applying to the UK for extradition are n't less than therm applying to sweden, your case for him fighting againbst extradition to sweden goes right out of the window

Doesn't that assume that he would stay in the UK?

When did he develop that fear? It must have been after August 18th 2010, when he applied for a residency permit. According to you, it was before the reports came out properly in December 2010 that the US were looking for ways to prosecute him (304). You are sure of that (321).

So, between August 18th 2010 and December 2010, he developed a fear of extradition to the US. Was that before or after Sweden issued an international arrest warrant on November 20th?

You keep up too, smmudge thinks that he should go to sweden and has said so all along in her consistent posts.

I think he has been wary of America trying to prosecute him for a long time. It was probably only around the time of the arrest warrant that he feared that Sweden would be the one to extradite him, and no doubt the US decided to put more fear in him by having reports published in the media about their investigations.

So, to avoid extradition to the US he ran to country with a closer political relationship but the same extradition laws as sweden. Right. That's why he did that.

That's really what you think is it? Be sure now before you reply.
