Aristocrat's daughter on the run with sex offender and newborn

It's a story about a desperate, and probably quite troubled woman, and an incredibly vulnerable newborn infant. Of course people care and are interested. The weird arguing and posturing is classic urban. Not sure what about any of this thread is surprising anyone.
Yes, and I think the way the story broke was part of the way people were drawn in. The drama of the car fire and the suspected but not confirmed birth, the detail of 200 officers on the case, the mixed messages from the cops, the sense that only part of the story is being told, the couple on the run, the fears for safety but no clarity on what precisely the fears are.

Of course people will take notice and speculate. It’d be inhuman not to.

just commenting here ...

It is not unknown for the 'murican "justice" system to get things extremely wrong when the defendant is not white.
And the UK system ain't perfect, neither !

I don't think we can know enough about the details & background in this case to pass judgement.
as you've doubtless seen over the years we're very keen to pass judgment on partial information

Guessing it's because he's a sex offender and they're concerned about the safety of the baby, potentially due to the nature of his offending but who knows. :(
I haven't read the thread, but I'd assumed this was exactly it, with the authorities jumping to it a bit more due to her posh/rich connections. Also, I imagine he has to inform the police of any change of address, along with whatever obligations being on the nonce register imposes (is there a weekly physical 'signing'?).

Do people with foreign convictions automatically go on the register?

As the writer of the thread title I take that on board. I think I probably wrote it that way because of how I've interpreted the reporting. Although it's been a story here since the car fire I hadn't really followed it but I found myself a bit caught up in it last night and today. I think I know why but that's not for here.

When I started the thread I was aware they were in London and that as a lot of posters here are too it was worth making people aware because I thought the risks to the kid were huge based on what I'd read. It hadn't occurred to me that threads like this don't go well and as the day went along I've read far more than is healthy on reflection and let myself get carried along with it.

I've tried to avoid speculation but looking back over my posts I can see that I have. I appreciate your bringing that to my attention particularly about how the kids might be able to see stuff like this. I hadn't thought about that and I see your point.

I too hope they're safe and some sort of positive resolution is found soon.
Aw, thanks for this. I didn't want to appear preachy and judgemental, it's just what occured to me. This is, after all, a discussion board :)

Got any views on vaccines...?
I generally try to rely on information by people who know more about the subject than I do i.e. scientist and health professionals. I personally have been vaccinated with all up to date covid and flu vaccines boosters included.
Why do you ask

Must admit, I might just have assumed he was on the register because of the reporting. It looks like you can be subject to notifications if the information here is correct:

However I think this bloke's offence was before the 1997 cut off, so he won't have been required to notify.

Not sure what that little bit of research did for my search history.
