Another firestick deal.

Yeah, but the voice control for search, play, pause and all the add on Alexa skills you can download etc is what makes it so user friendly and useful.
I just want the Fire TV device to watch stuff on a TV (preferably free stuff without having to plug a laptop into the telly), not interested at all in a voice assistant.
Basically I wouldn't trade my privacy for a gimmick.

Me pal set me up with this app right, called Smartx, got all the channels on innit.
I watch; all football, cricket, f1, boxing, ufc, tennis, golf and korfball on it.

Costs £50 a year tho but, and big prem games can be a bit buffery, but basically its a fackin boon

And btw I have 2 firesticks and basically watch all telly through them. Reception can be a bit iffy on my flats so I just watch everything on catchup

Just ordered 2, one for me one for girlfriend.

Been a few years since I've bothered with anything like this. I used to do card sharing, which was excellent, but they found a way to stop people sharing and I haven't bothered since.

I paid more then that for the fucking remote last month. I knew there would another sale and this would happen, but I needed that remote. :(

But thank you for bringing this to my attention as it means the tablets are also on sale and mine got nicked about a month after buying it and this is the new model then I had.

Might be worth checking if the return window is still open. I often discover my recent Amazon purchases are “faulty“ when I find a better price soon after purchasing. Using the “faulty“ drop down option ensures free returns as “I found a better price elsewhere“ will have them charge you for the return p&p.

It's only a couple of quid. It's more then I could have had the complete setup. Which is bonkers really as I don't need another firestick, just the remote, it just annoying how expensive they were by themselves.

Can you get hbo max app on a fire TV stick? Anyone know?
Possibly, but you don't need to. All of the HBO shows are accessible via the Cinema HD app that I mentioned before. I recently rewatched Band of Brothers on it, and am planning to revisit The Sopranos too at some point.

I'm currently doing the Sopranos for the first time at the moment. Found a lovely 1080 copy on a torrent site and watch it on the fire stick via Plex.

The 4k firestick does Plex way better then a much more expensive PS4.

What's the name of the torrent site? I've found a great one called Majcool (set VPN to New York) that returns flawless 1080 video via Cinema HD.

I’ll try that kodi install tutorial, but my fire stick is a few years old so maybe it’s too clapped out, i don’t know. HBO max subscription is under £4 a month here and I share it with MiL so should probably keep that.

You can sideload it but its subscription based based unless you get a bent login and you might need a vpn
Thanks - sideload it from within kodi do you mean?

I have the subscription already and don’t need vpn as it’s available here in Sweden but the app isn’t compatible with my gen 2 Appletv or my LG TV, so I’m having to run it via airplay from iPad which messes up the audio and subtitles for some reason.

IPTorrents. It's pretty good, but you have to maintain a ratio. If you think you can do this, then drop me a PM as I've probably got a spare invite.

Possibly the best 30 quid you’ll ever spend.

Use in conjunction with Troypoint:

After installing kodi on fire stick, how do you get it to do anything useful? It’s telling me I have an empty library and need to add a media source within files section 🤷‍♂️

I'm not a great fan of Kodi tbh , too much faffing around. There are loads of standalone apps that work just as well or better on firesticks for movies and series including Stremio which is torrent based. A decent , reasonably priced and with a good reputation IPTV is worth putting on a firestick especially if its got a boxsets and movies section to go with all sports.

That was my experience. Most the free streams were shit and even the paid for service I tried I wasn't great.

Call me old fashioned, but at least with a torrent, if you know you've downloaded a decent one, it's very unlikely to crap out on you half way through.

After installing Kodi you need to put an "add-on" onto it. One of the best for films is The Crew. This shows you how: Best Kodi Addons in November 2021 (Updated Daily)

That said, I agree with 39 above. It's a bit of a faff and there are easier options. I'd recommend just loading up Cinema HD Install Cinema HD APK on Firestick/Android in 30 Seconds (Nov 2021)

It only takes a couple of minutes and should have you up and running with everything you'll get from a Kodi build anyway.

How do the torrent based streaming sites work? Are you just streaming via public trackers and not seeding anything back?

That's gonna be really useful for me ta, streaming from my NAS using Plex through a PS3 is painful (which is why I currently just plug a laptop into the telly).

I was blown away by how good it was in comparison, it's like night day, especially for something so cheap.

Yes . Stremio uses add on torrent sites that you select . There’ll be a guide to it on the internet somewhere .
That's interesting. Because if streaming this way gets ever more popular then you'll get to a stage where tens of thousands of people are streaming HD/UHD movies from a small handful of people who actually have and are seeding the files. And who won't have enough upstream bandwidth to sustain it even if some of them use seedboxes.
