Another firestick deal.

Black Friday incoming also. They may drop even further, but obviously anyone's risk to take if they go out of stock.

Can you still get pirated movies and tv apps for them? was good for that but I remember constantly updating them to keep pirating yarr.

Yeah I had a Kodi box that I eventually gave up on as it was so much hassle. And I'm relatively clued up on AV stuff.

Spymaster knows about the Firestick thing.

Put this on a Firestick and you can pretty much cancel your Netflix/Amazon/Sky subscriptions:

Can you explain this stuff for me?

Is it custom firmware that overwrites the Amazon stuff? Will it work on the 4K Firestick linked above? Will it remove Alexa (it better had, don't want that)? What will it allow me to watch? Can I put a VPN account onto the stick or do I need to do it through my router?

I've only used torrents since forever and didn't really get into or understand the Kodi thing properly.

I don't know the technical schiz of how it works but yes, that 4k Firestick is what I have. It doesn't remove Alexa or alter anything else that comes pre-loaded. All you are doing is "side-loading" Kodi and Cinema HD onto it so they are an addition. When you plug the Firestick into your tv and turn it on you'll get an interface like this:

TV 1.jpg

Those smaller boxes along the middle are apps that I've downloaded (see the Troypoint tutorial above). It takes about 20 minutes to load everything you're likely to need but the instructions are very simple to follow and you only have to do it once.

If you type "VPN" into the search function and you'll get a list of apps like this:

TV 2.jpg

Just choose one from the list, I use IP Vanish, and you can download it directly from there. It just takes a few seconds.

As far as what you can watch on it, pretty much anything that's ever been filmed from brand new stuff currently in cinemas to old movies and shows. Everything's out there somewhere and most of it in HD.

Cheers for the explanation, I think I'll give it a go while the stick is cheap. Ideally though I'd like to use Mullvad as my VPN provider so I'll see if there's some way of configuring it for that. Also if there's a way of disabling Alexa as neither of us want that.

It's worth subscribing to that Troypoint website too. It tries to flog you a VPN all the time, that's how he makes his money, but it's the most up to date resource that I've found on the net and has loads of tutorials and reviews of the best Firestick add-ons

So I can just sideload Android .apks onto it? Should this work?

Found a surefire way to disable the Alexa spying!

No idea why you'd disable voice search. I use it a lot. It's really handy when you can't be arsed typing.

Won't I still be able to watch content? That's what our old Fire Stick did :hmm:
You'll be able to do everything but voice search. Voice search is really handy.

I don't get why people are so worried about hiding things from Amazon. You should always tape down the microphone key on the remote before having sex. What are they gonna do with it? :D
