Alex Jones - Two Stops Past Barking?

In Watford. Not inside a military base in a volcano on a remote tropical island, as is traditional, but in a hotel in Watford.

The lobbying scandal is fuck all really, just a bit of PR fluff to justify attacking union funding in a roundabout way. Linking it to bilderberg shows you up a bit.

What a shocking indictment of your political judgement that you can't spot an obvious bullshit-artist and huckster for what he is.

Perhaps the "left" has been reluctant to run off down the rabbit hole because it's theoretically tied to a much better set of ideas that this Alex Jones shit? Because ultimately getting worked up over a half-secret informal caucus of the ruling class is missing the point, it's not the meetings and the bricks and mortar and the scary sounding vaguely Jewish-y names like Skull and Bones or Bilderberg that matters, it's class power and the social relations that perpetuate it, not the meeting itself. Do you really think a secret world government operates out of Bilderberg? With what evidence? My best guess it's just a sly gathering of prominent individuals, like just now I bet all the western heads policy planners who are going to the Geneva talks between US, UK, Russia, Iran over Syria, have all been having a nice chilled out weekend in Watford to be able to plan, in comfort with no media instrusion, what they're doing to do. That's the function it seems to serve from what I've read at least. It was probably a cushy idea 'til all the anti-semites started going mad about it.

Lobbying scandal : "fuck all" - yeah I know. No one really gave a shit when policy was discovered to be for sale at £100k to £250k a pop. Who gives a shit if MPs are for sale at £1k to 7k a day? What a big old <YAWN>. Must be because the right use it to have a go at the unions, whose donations are all above board and democratic. That rightist argument is a total crock, why are you giving it credence by taking the threat seriously in the face of systemic government criminality?

"secret" - there was a time when even talking about it's existence had one marked out as a loon. It was next to secret and remains highly secretive, where ever it takes place geographically.

Who said I didn't say AJ was a bullshit artist? You did. I know full well he is. How wonderfully successful the left have been of late with their "better set of ideas".

Does "Skull and Bones" sound Jewish? What are you on? "Bilderberg" sounds German/Dutch, I'm sure there were nazis with the suffix "berg" to their name. I suppose there were Jews from a similar area.

No I don't think a secret world government operates out of Bilderberg. I do think that some of the most pernicious entities conflab there and it should be a target for leftist protest every bit as much as G8s are.

Leftist protests against the G8 do sod all, they are almost always divorced from any movement with roots and concrete demands.
'Abolish Bilderberg' is as empty as a banner as 'Re-Appropriate use-value' IMO.

Anyone who thinks that this is some sort of "scandal" and not an everyday functionally necessary compenent of captialism is a fucking loon, a fucking loon who probably thinks that if we just stopped the lobbying and got back to some mythic real capitalism we'd all be fine. Businessmen giving money to politicians? Political parties representing class interests? The state mediating class antagonisms? Fuck me, what a scandal, I had no idea.

The story is in the news now quite deliberately planned by Cameron and Tory HQ and is meant to be softening up public opinion towards further restrictions unions funding Labour. That's it. It's PR fluff. That's the only reason these few cases have got a brief bit of press attention. Lobbying continues business as usual the very next day.

Because even though the unions donations are above board and democratic (far more so than any Tory money at least) that's what in the upcoming Lobbying bill but never mind all that, that's just the real world.

"secret" - there was a time when even talking about it's existence had one marked out as a loon. It was next to secret and remains highly secretive, where ever it takes place geographically.

Utter horseshit and you know it, and it's the least secretive thing in the fucking world.

Who said I didn't say AJ was a bullshit artist?

You're practically paraphrasing him, trying (badly) to hide the fact you fundamentally agree with his outlook but feel a bit embarassed to be associated with suh an obvious charlatan and crank.

How wonderfully successful the left have been of late with their "better set of ideas".

Zing. Well at least you're not pretending to be a left-winger any more, that's progress.

Does "Skull and Bones" sound Jewish? What are you on? "Bilderberg" sounds German/Dutch, I'm sure there were nazis with the suffix "berg" to their name. I suppose there were Jews from a similar area.

This is absolutely mad. Jazzz level shit. Do you think Bilderberg would get all the attention from anti-semitic freaks if it were named after an Ibis or a Premier Inn? Do one. This sort of denial is pathetic.

No I don't think a secret world government operates out of Bilderberg. I do think that some of the most pernicious entities conflab there and it should be a target for leftist protest every bit as much as G8s are.

Fuck it on that basis whilst we're at it let's hold a leftist demonstration every time the cabinet meets.

I thought that Alex Jones did come across as a fool and a "loon" and that sometimes giving a platform to an extremist or a conspiracist can result in them destroying their own credibility. I think ridicule is a powerful weapon against some arguments and much more powerful in some cases than 'no platform'. I have seen this in practice with one particular friend of mine who was keen on David Icke and his theories about ten years ago.

Does reappropriate use-value actually get used as a banner?

Someone upthread talked about the dearth of leftist "CT"ers.

If you are interested in discussing things on the following principles and are on Facebook please PM me with 2 words : Progressive "Truth"

1) Too much of the "truth" movement is polluted with reactionary elements

2) That the conventional "left" has too often rejected or turned a blind eye to genuine issues raised by that movement. As such, it has actually dropped the ball and failed to appeal to a significant number of informed global citizens, allowing the reactionaries something of a free run.

3) The "truth" movement has become as imprisoned by some of it's own orthodoxies as the establishment it decries : Too often it mistakes supposition for certainty. It can hold a very negative view of the broad population ("sheeple") with alienating means of attempting to engage ("WAKE UP SHEEPLE"). This is by far from uniformly the case, loads of "truthers" are sincere and good communicators, but you get the gist.

He ran rings round Aaronovith and Neil. He ran rings round Piers Morgan on his US show a little while back. Totally outclassed. Predictable enough.

I would call myself one, on the understanding that your definition of "conspiracy theorist" is the typically skewed one.

Michael Meacher seems in that neck of the woods as well, but generally they are very thin on the ground which for me is a shame, leaving some very important issues open for reactionaries to have a free run at.

I guess what I meant was more 'leaders or major tendencies of the CT / truther movement' type of thing.

Rather than individuals who may hold some related beliefs ...

What I'm trying to do is test my hypothesis that the CT''r movement as a whole is headed in a reactionary direction, e.g. ultra-capitalism as the cure for capitalism's ills, false-flag islamo-lizard bollocks while McKinseys et. al. are actually conspiring on behalf of healthcare investors to fuck up the NHS and getting almost no attention etc.

Indeed he did; if you understand 'running rings' as talking incoherently at them while they take the piss.
Neil managed the unlikely feat of making himself look a bigger cunt than JOnes with his little act at the end. On the bigger issue, at least from the BBC's own perspective it's hard to argue against their right to interview zeitgeisty hatstand conspiranoids. Sadly, these ideas have got a degree of traction. It's the racism that is the issue - and while many conspiracies/conspiracists tend towards or even rely on racism, in the person of Jones they go off the scale. I could just about see a 'legitimate' interview with someone who wanted to wibble on about Bilderberg, but Jones is way beyond any fine lines. What makes it even worse is the failure to stick it to him on racism. Same time, he did a really, really good job of losing any support he might have gained. :)

Been poking around Prison Planet and David Icke's forums out of curiosity as to their reactions. A few Brits saying he made a fool of himself and lots of Americans calling British people pussies for not understanding that serious 'activism' has to be screamed incoherently in a temper tantrum. Everything these people say makes me think they're idiots but the notion of US style scream-personalities making their way over here is a depressing one. Fear for the day when a Jones/Beck/Limbaugh character makes it big here, not that we've got a media which indulges in in-depth and well informed debate but still, at least they're polite while they're not doing it.

Then again, didn't Noel Edmond's try it on some Sky show? Glenn Beck style hysteria as he screamed at the nation for being a failure.

Noels got some way to go on the loon front though, so far he just has the cosmic ordering stuff and the 'my dead parents are glowing balls of light' stuff. Jones is spanking him on the loon front

Noel Edmonds tells of moment garage owner thought his taxi dummy was dead woman
TELEVISION presenter Noel Edmonds has revealed that a garage owner once feared the dummy he drives around Bristol in his taxi was a woman who had frozen to death.

The Deal of No Deal star, who lives in Bitton, told the Daily Mail that the man feared the worst for the mannequin, called Candice, when it fell out of this cab.

The Bristol Post first reported in 2010 that the TV personality had a mannequin on board the black cab he drives to enable him to use city bus lanes and deter potential passengers from trying to flag it down.
Why hasn't this been more widely reported.

Yeah, but has Jones managed to arrange boxes with 'numbers' on, to be opened by a members of the public in an apparently 'random' fashion? :hmm: And we all know what he means when he calls up 'the banker'.

Has anyone pointed out to him the various connections between Wheeldon District Council and the Fed/Bilderberg NWO axis? Just needs jump-starting.

Reckon there's a genuine side-project in that actually, sending Noel Edmonds unmarked brown envelopes full of clipped and bullshit about owls, Illuminati and FEMA death camps in Rhyll. Keep it going until one day he appears on an obscure digital channel bellowing angrily into the bemused face of Keith Chegwin, who sits staring blankly forward with bovine eyes wondering if they'll get to gunge someone after Noel's finished screaming in his face about 'SHEEPLE'.

I didn't know he lives in Bitton - i'm going there after lunch. I was planning to anyway, but this has added something to the journey. I shall try and get a snap of his taxi with the dead frozen woman.

I bet Jazzz has a cracking theory on Deal or No Deal, reeks of NWO symbolism and brainwashing.
