You see, you keep crapping on about "pessimism" and that's your problem: you reject anyone who doesn't share your er, pessimism. You're a little like those Randists who keep bitching about altruism, you hate the very thought that someone could be optimistic. But then I also suspect that your "pessimisim" is really cynicism, you're just don't want to admit it. Perhaps you don't know the difference.
But I pity anyone unfortunate enough to have to spend an evening with you. You'd have them reaching for the gin and razor blades in a heartbeat.
Why does it only matter that I 'reject' a viewpoint? Everybody 'rejects' views with which they find it impossible to agree.
Pessimism, cynicism, again, what does it matter? But I really don't mind if somebody chooses to take an optimistic viewpoint. Takes all sorts etc. (Nobody, by the way, has ever killed themselves because I've pricked their little bubble of optimism. As far as I know.)
Randists, by the way, are the ultimate optimists. You have more in common with them than I do.

I wont pretend to have trawled this thread completely, but are there really 'radical left' types, joining in "with these sterile cries of outrage" ( nicely put btw ) on here or elsewhere ? I think it was even Laurie penny ( or Zoe Williams or some other highly paid wadical journo) who wrote a decent ' fuck off with all the lame 'outrage'bullshit 'article a year + ago , I just dont see anyone with half a brain on the left joining in with this rubbish ( you may well bat that off with 'no one with half a brain remaining on the left' or something , but whatevs.)

But I do have a largish libertarian streak so I come down on the side of allowing him to say what he said, however unpleasant, and then let him be ridiculed.
In fact, I quite worried about the growing restrictions on free speech, particularly in relation to social media:
