Your daily cat and kitten news

We have kittens!
Names may yet change when their personalities start to be shown to us (they are hiding in their carriers at the moment), haven't decided yet.

Anakin is a 7.5 month old Chocolate Point Siamese.

Atlantis is a 6 month old... He looks like a Siamese but is a bicolour which is not officially called a Siamese, so technically he is a Blue Tabby Point Oriental Bicolour. Some registries call this flavour of the Siam/OSH family a Seychellois, but this is purely a registration thing, they are all essentially the same breed, just with different colours and markings.

We won't know until his coat darkens (Colourpoints are born an off-white colour and darken with age and ambient temperature of their environment).what his tabby pattern is (probably ticked tabby) or how much white he has on him.

Trust me to get a cat with a description which begs half a page of explanation

They are both neutered boys.

Will post photos when they emerge from their carriers and start to explore!

Sad still at the fact the previous era ended 😢 but also happy to usher in a new feline era in House Epona

Looking forward to meeting them! They are a pair of lucky boys.

Twisted the top off the Felpreva, got it in position and he realised what was going on and jumped off goddammit. Does it keep ok with just the top on it? He's stashed in his igloo again.

I hope they decide to at least head under the bed soon, judging by the heady aroma one of them needed to do a big shit halfway home (2 hour car journey) and I need to do a clean up.

I hope we're not going to wake up in the morning to poo pawprints all over our bedding 🤣

Anakin had cuddles with us both when we went to meet him... All her older cats were all over us, the kittens a little hesitant, but Anakin soon found himself half on my lap and half on N's.

Atlantis spent a lot of our visit under the sofa, a little shyer but he wasn't scared and didn't leave the room, he was quietly observing us to see what we were like. He popped out to shyly come and sniff us after about an hour.

He is currently under our chest of drawers watching us like a hawk. We are deliberately mostly ignoring him. Anakin is still in his carrier. He's the one that was adopted and returned once already, so is probably and justifiably feeling a tad confused and not as confident as he was when we met him earlier

Awww, poor Anakin! That must have been traumatic for him. He'll soon feel at home with you and N, though.

Tempt him out with some dreamies or waffer thin ham. Only joking. :) When we moved house when I was a youngster our cat hid behind the couch for a day. Was fine soon enough.

from today's visit to brixton - popeye the bookmongers shop kitty wasn't in his usual place in the front window, or visible in the shop (although there were signs he was still around) so i asked after him.

the chap opened the door behind the counter so i could say hello - he has now got a heated pad thing on the floor behind the counter, so he wasn't going anywhere else today (i got a brief look, then he went back to sleep.)

When I got Sam and Tabs they were called Laura and Hallu (Grey in Estonian) and spent their first 24 hours hiding behind the washing machine in the bathroom. I don't know if it was hunger or poops that made them come out, lol, but they immediately sought out the litter tray.

Now they pester me to go to bed (as they are doing right now) and force me out of my seat so they can sit in the warm depression that smells of me (which they did 5 minutes ago). If I can survive their harassment I'll be allowed to stay up a bit longer.

Thanks, I am sure it will work out fine, they are well socialised cheeky little boys, still young but a little shy (1 his first time away from his mum - who btw is at that no longer wants him around stage, the other has been messed around and been back and forth and probably is just very confused despite initially appearing the bolder of the 2) who are just at sea in new surroundings with new humans and new smells (and probably some odd sights, tastes, textures and sounds too).

Atlantis is now under the bed, and Anakin is still in his carrier. I've placed food where they can reach it without having to come out of hiding if they don't want to just yet. Litter tray and water all spaced out away from other amenities, but available without emerging far from under the bed. I've put some blankies under the bed as well as cardboard boxes on the sides so they can keep comfy.

So happy for you and your new boys!

Both now under the bed, looked like each was securing their own blankie from the ones I dotted around under there.
Not sure either of them has eaten yet, but they were stuffed full with so many treats when we were visiting them that it's a wonder they didn't burst on the way home.
If they haven't eaten what I put down for them by the time Pets@Home opens tomorrow I'll nip along and get some of the dry food they were on and poach some chicken and put down a load of treats (I swear these are spoiled little boys!) to get something into them. I wasn't sure what wet food they were used to.

I'm resisting the urge to keep checking on them in case it seems a bit threatening always being looked at. They'll be fine under there until they're ready to come out, I'll just check their food bowls in the morning to make sure they've eaten and go get something more appealing if they haven't.

Woke up a bit ago and realised I was being watched from between the (floor length) curtains. First one little Meezer face then another.
They would be much warmer if they got into bed with us!
One of them at least has used a litter tray to have a wee.
No food has been eaten yet, I'll head up to Pets@Home in a bit to grab some dry and will defrost some chicken for them when I get back, we're planning a prawn meal this evening so I'll defrost a couple of extra prawns which might tempt them.
I also have some treats - not going to worry about proper nutrition right away, lets get them comfy and eating first.

They aren't terrified or cowering, they're observing and keep peeping out at us from wherever they are. We have left them to it in there by themselves for a bit to see whether they emerge from curtainville.
