Oh poor Milo! That's horrible luck on top of the rest. Sending you all love strung out So painful being in charge of those decisions when you can't even explain it to them
Oh no! So sorry to hear. You did the best thing for him and were with him at the end - the most important thing you can do for any companion. Thinking of you allMilo passed an hour ago. They found an aggressive tumor on his liver, and they didn't think there was any chance of recovery, or even improving his quality of life.
He was a rescue cat, who'd lived on the streets and had a rough time until we adopted him six years ago. He brought so much to our lives, and we gave him a happy, peaceful home for his final years. Definitely one of a kind, the loudest, cheekiest, most affectionate cat I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
This was him yesterday, skinny, but handsome to the end.

Thanks all. He'd had diabetes, as well as chronic kidney disease and pancreatitis, which we'd been struggling to treat for a while. After taking his bloods yesterday, the only normal one was his liver function, and then it turned out that was the one with a giant tumor on it. Sod's law I guess!
Been spending the evening looking back over some of our favourite pictures over the years and laughing about all his weird little ways. Too many really, but I like this one of him recently as he mellowed and much more comfortable lying on us.

Thank you Epona, those are very kind words.Such a beautiful cat, you went above and beyond to try to help him and see if he could be made more comfortable and give him a bit longer - I was so hoping for you that it would buy him some more time and happiness with you.
I'm glad you've been able to reminisce and find joy in the fact of having him in your lives for all that time. It still hits you like a sledgehammer though, in my experience, often a couple of days later when it properly sinks in.
You've shared some lovely photos of him, if you want to post more in remembrance we'd be delighted to see them, or leave it til another time if the sadness and grief is too much atm.
He was lucky to have you looking after him.

Draw me like one of your French cats...
I hope he comes back soon!Ti is missing it's only been since early y/day morning but we're worried.
He looked like he recovered from having his teeth removed recently but last few days he's not really been eating and looked like he was losing weight again + wasn't right in himself.
I've knocked up some posters to put in neighbours letter boxes incase he's too weak to jump the fences and is trapped somewhere.
