Your daily cat and kitten news

Bernard seems to love butterflies, and I can't fathom why because every time he eats one he looks like he's just bitten into a lime. If they taste awful, why does he keep eating them?

Had to pop to the shops earlier. Lilith was out but it was gone 4pm so I left her dinner for her. I was gone about 20 minutes and when I got in I heard the sweetest little miaow from the top of the stairs. She then dived into her food, untouched until I got back. She was obviously too worried about me to start eating until I got home safe!

vet appointment today moved to the further away one and earlier, no choice as need her to be seen
just had to cancel as Kizzy done a runner
next available was when at a festival and the next was 19th so said yes totally forgetting i've a funeral to go to
cannot cope with vet admin!

Oh christ, they just know don't they? Only time the cat vanishes utterly for the entire day is if there's a vet appointment or he's due at the cattery. I've just learned to put up with the whining and keep him in all day, even if the vet is at 4pm.

I've found it increasingly difficult to get vet appointments since COVID - I don't actually think it is all to do with COVID per se (except a lot of people got pets during lockdowns, so the workload increased), mostly that there was always going to be a shortage of vets at some point due to 7 years at university with escalating fees and less financial support for students - although senior vets can earn a good amount (and it might seem like they are on roaring salaries given the amount we pay in fees), trainees and junior vets and even a lot of regular clinic vets are not actually massively well paid, considering the training and loans they've been through.

Love to Kizzy, I hope you manage to get her seen soon.
