Your daily cat and kitten news

I bought a triangle to use as a prop in my set (the musical ones), and so far, the only use I've had of it is clanging it to stop Jocky from eating my tea. He HATES the sound of it, and now all I have to do is hold it up and he fucks off sharpish
who says cats can't be trained ?

good bit of aversion therapy there. Can you lend it to me ?

Actually, I use tone of voice [just saying "No!" quite sharply] and a decent handclap - those seem to work for me.

Both of our boys flee from the sound of the harmonica. A few bars of “Love Me Do” and you won’t see their backsides for dust.

Not so easy to shout when your mouth is full of food 😉

How are you getting on with the auto feeder girasol ?
So, after its arrival on Saturday - so far so good. It has been feeding Rusty 3x a day (smallest 10g portion at a time), two times while I'm in bed and I'm thinking why haven't I done this sooner 😂?

I have stopped doing the first thing in the morning wet food feed, moved that to lunchtime, to get her out of the habit of begging as soon as I get up. As one of the dry feeds is now at 6am it has done the trick.

Black and white photo of a very cute shorthaired white cat with symmetrical black markings on the sides of its head, looking with a wide eyed expression at the viewer. Text below the photo reads “Buffins, winner of the title of Cat with the Most Appealing Expression in 1958.

from 'cats of yore' on blooksi

is this 'Cat with the Most Appealing Expression' or have they left a dead mouse somewhere and hooman is just about to find it?

Quoting Puddy Tat from the bandwidth thread, xsunnysuex this cat reminds me of your Toby toes!

I was tying my shoelaces - unaware that Vic was sat on the coffee table in front of me - but when I raised up my hands I accidentally bopped him quite hard on the chin. He ran off at speed and, so far, he is rebuffing any of my attempts at reconciliation. I feel like a monster ☹️

I was going to reply "You punch Vic? You punch Vic's face like the sandbag? Jail for mother for One thousand years!"

But I wasn't sure if you'd ever seen the Patricia Lockwood tweet

Good news! I am going to buy the same one when I get paid. I tried to look for (cheaper) ones but as usual, became absolutely overwhelmed by the choice. I would happily live in a world where we had 2 choices max for everything.

Anyway, yes, this will solve the fed-up-neighbour problem, and hopefully stop him battering the door down for his brekky.

I crushed Jocky's paw under my trainered feet at 5.30 this morning, because he was doing that cat thing of obstructing my route to his food and suddenly his paw was just under me somehow. Solidarity fistbump.

I know!!! The choices are overwhelming, I hate it! I picked the one with the most positive reviews, not that it's any guarantee. But, as I said before, when I asked for recommendation NO ONE came up with one, despite me knowing so many people with cats :(

I'm quite pleased with the app as well, very intuitive and it looks like it's simple to contact customer service should anything go wrong, but, nothing has gone wrong yet, so I can't comment on what their customer service is like... Fingers crossed I never have to find out!

Turns out the calling feature is very useful! Rusty comes running when she hears my recorded voice then a few seconds later down comes the food :D - just a note that the maximum kibble size is 1.5 cm.

Also, it needs to be plugged in to power outlet - the batteries are for backup only. There are models with their own rechargeable battery but I figured that could limit the lifetime of the unit and it means having to recharge battery, one more thing for me to forget. :(

here it is again... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C2VQDXDB
to save scrolling back up, this thread moves fast!!!

edit: Oh, you need food desiccant to keep the food fresh! Needs changing every two weeks. I just bought this reusable one instead of individual, disposable bags. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087T2GBPX.

Bella the little blue-point Ragdoll dock cat has been missing since last weekend :(
Posters of her all over the place but no news, am quite upset.
Some of you who have been on one of my River Lea walks through Cody Dock may have met her.

:(

Sadly, Bella was found dead on the road on the neighbouring industrial estate - looks like she'd been hit by a vehicle and died instantly.
At least her family know what happened to her, instead of always wondering.
I had to excuse myself to go and have a cry when I learned this today, she was such a sweet little thing.

Rest in Peace little Bella.

Poor old Raedwald was limping badly for a couple of days. Couldn't find any thorns or obvious cuts or bites but his leg was quite swollen. I feared it was a rat bite and he was going to need an expensive visit to the vet for anti-biotics (£140 last time).
Fortunately he seems a lot better today and is no longer limping.
