Your daily cat and kitten news

So I got into bed last night, sitting up crossed legged and reading, when I got joined for a tummy-tickling, as per usual. After a couple of minutes I felt something odd, and when I looked down I could see he had a small slug crawling on his fur, completely unbeknowst to him. Luckily I disposed of it before he realised and decided he wanted a snack.

Brought him to the vet today, they weren't too sure and when the vet (it was a locum I've never seen before) started Googling I was a bit :hmm: (Angel would have known straight away).

Have some eye drops for him + gonna have him on Loxicom for a few days and keep an eye (no pun) on him.
Ah yeah I went up there a couple of days ago to pick up some food for Jakey and there was a female vet there instead of Angel, I didn't have a vet appointment mind you but it wasn't Angel doing the consults - hope he's on his holibobs rather than unwell or something.
Hope the eye drops do the trick.

Looking to get a new cat feeder... Going to be away for a few days later in the year - it's just one cat - I like the idea that I can remotely release food and have seen this on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0C2VQDXDB/

However - I'd like to research a bit more and would appreciate real life urbanite's experiences...

Anything to avoid? I do worry that the more tech a feeder has the more it can go wrong...

Here's a pic of Rusty for viewing pleasure...

Does a cat really need a "Meal Call" feature?

Any time I had the opportunity to nip home during the day and near meal times, I always found madam standing over her feeder waiting for it to perform.

And come the clock changes, she soon let me know her displeasure if I had forgotten to harmonise her feeder and food went out of sync..! :D

I think the meal call feature is for if they go out and you've kind of trained them to come when you call their dinner is ready - so it provides that consistent reinforcement when you're not there.

Ryu is a shoulder cat. It's obviously cute but usually really inconvenient :D When I'm trying to get dressed for work in the morning he'll often run up my robe and refuse to get off, so the other day I quickly stripped off, thinking he would have nothing to hold onto and he just ran up my bare skin instead  Scratched to fuck.

It's not something I see as essential, but they seem to come with that. Even our old cheapo battery operated one had that. Probably because it's easy/relatively cheap to add a recording device.

My sweet boy Jakey is just always full of purrs.
So loving and gentle.
Always wanting to be in my face giving me kisses or trying to steal my food :D
My old gent under his blankie.
