who's been sending bombs to obama and clinton then? and cnn?

Nutters will be nutters.

I'm not certain that we should be so easily dismissing nutters as "nutters." It's true, of course, but in years past "nutters" had limited ability to put their views out there for the consumption of other nutters, and more importantly, political entities that see these "nutters" as useful idiots to be used for their own ends. With the advent of the internet, its possible for nutters to cross-pollinate and spread their insanity wider than ever before. We now have entire television channels devoted to mobilizing nutters. It's resulted in an echo chamber inhabited by about a third of the population, all of whom have a vote. The vote of a "nutter," counts as much as the vote of a sane person, or perhaps more.

Gosh, who would imagine this would happen when you accuse your opponents of being paedos, Enemies of the people and political paymasters and you have countless trigger-happy fans?!

I'm so reassured that the president wants to bring us together.
"I just want to tell you that in these times, we have to unify, we have to come together, and send one very clear, strong, unmistakable message that acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America"

De Niro too :(

The bomb maker is not much good at actually blowing stuff up

Don't forget that the intended recipients were either establishment bigwigs or mainstream media organisations, two groups likely to be well prepared for this sort of thing.

Had the targets been average citizens then I reckon people would have got hurt.

I’m guessing De Nero’s restaurant wasn’t x-raying it’s mail, or at least it wasn’t before.

True. I've also seen no data about the effectiveness of the devices in question, so my assumption of basic competency is possibly in question. Although I think it's a good idea not to underestimate right-wing terrorists.

You'll notice that the right screams about Sarah Sanders and Mitch McConnell being harassed in restaurants, but barely a peep out of them over actual bombs sent to their political opposition. Rep. Fortenberry, from my state, has used this to whine about a sign placed in his yard and label it "violence", for instance.

Nothing story though really is it ? Brit mps used to get them most weeks back in the day. America though so big news.

Look At the fucking state of them devices - look at them.

Suspect Cesar Sayoc is a registered Republican with an extensive criminal history who appears to have owned dry cleaning and catering businesses, NBC News reported, citing public records.
At least I got the approximate age right. /cracker

This person does not seem to have been very expert in their campaign 1) no packages went off and 2) they were caught in a matter of days. I wonder how they were tracked down? Perhaps they put the senders address on the back of the packets.
