If only one person gets to 100 then its job done with no members vote isn't it, so Sunak supporting MPs are probably spending the day texting halfwits like Braverman and Mogg how the the nation is crying out for their vision & leadership and they must step forward and throw in their hats.

Yup, his teflon capabilities, backed by all the RW press...The mere fact he's not actually been doing his job (from an entire summer spent doing the same) is completely irrelevant.

Bad bad feeling about this :(
All we can hope for is that a cruel winter overwhelms the Tories and/or Brexit devours them

In each case it's the rest of us that will be a heavy price for that.

A damn shame Labour are so useless. Johnson will deflate their lead in weeks.

Johnson mark 2 would be a disaster for the government and tory party. He shat his bed with the public long ago and he'd be an ongoing vortex of ever greater chaos and scandal. People struggling to pay mortgages, rent and fuel bills are not going to won over cos theres a "bit of a character" in charge fucking about whilst the country goes to shit. The torys are fucked at the next election no matter what they do - and that odious fuck is their worse possible option.

That's far too restrained. The man is a fucking death cult, rather than anything associated with giving life and bringing pleasure.

Ed Davey lol

How the fuck are the libdems not hoovering up remainery English tories right now. They're beyond useless.

Lots of people clearly don't know who Penny Mordaunt is (I've only just learned how to spell her name). I wonder how many people can tell you who Ed Davey is.

There's also the little detail of how transparent and secure the members' online voting is.
People were able to register Hilda Margaret Roberts and the family tortoise as members during the last round, who were invited to the hustings and entitled to vote.
There is no checking that members are who they say they are. There is no independent oversight.

Tortoise Media applied for judicial review earlier this month.

One bit that was worth listening on R4 Today was James Harding talking about it. Interview starts at 2hrs 44 m.
And a tweeter has reported that her cat has just joined the Tory party.

A not completely terrible idea.Won’t happen obvs.

It's not that great an idea - look how Gauke did when he ran as an independent - as one of the more high profile rebels with a decent local reputation - if every single person who had voted for a different party had voted for him, he might just have got over the line.

I think the danger is that the public will want Boris back because he's a proven quantity to them. He can deliver. Whereas anyone else could run the risk of turning out another Truss. The opinion polls may show Sunak to be the favourite, but I don't see it.

Expect the worst IMO.
