I remember Jeremy Paxman complaining about the possibility of the weather closing his evening news program. I think instead they closed with the stock markets, however the FTSE100 is probably equally as irrelevant for most people as the weather is.

I can't find the clip, but it was something like:

"And finally, the weather. Well it's March: what do you expect?"
 
I mainly look on BBC purely to see how stories are being spun
