What's in your glass?

ah but it the export stuff they sell at the airport

or the stuff you get from some old fella who know a fella

:D

I probably ought to try to find some drinkable wine in Aldi.
Some of my "cellar" is probably best reserved for special occasions and I need to get used to younger, less refined wines ...
I'm getting through the good stuff at a rate of knots ...

Lirac wine comes from the other side of the valley and offers I think a similar taste but at a cheaper premium.

My absolute favourite AOC is Cote des nuits villages, I had an amazing glass of that in the Grand Hyatt in Seoul of all places.

I've taken a punt on a bottle of this at £7.50 because I hadn't seen it before :-
"Marselan is a red French wine grape variety that is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache."

And a bottle of Cotes Du Rhone because a bottle of it leapt off the shelf and smashed while I was standing there

Yep, that sort of Burgundy, that’s the right area, maybe the AOC along? I rarely drink wine at the moment so it’s a bottle for a special occasion.

Will have some wine with my old man over Christmas but he’s a Bordeaux man and I expect on the big day we will be sharing the 2003 vintage the family got him for his 70th. Looking forward to it.

Your Dad has good taste!

This is the wine we got him. He’s not buying any more fine wine as he doesn’t think he will live long enough for it to be ready to drink.

Will definitely buy again.
This one has the funky complexity of the St. Emilion I bought a lot of in the past. It's some sort of dark fruit - perhaps cherry - but with something extra - perhaps cellar mould ...

At the moment there is just H2O in my glass.

Usually I drink squashes, coke, juice etc but I am coming to the conclusion that they might be behind my putting on weight. I wonder if I could switch to water and lose weight?

I don't drink much alcohol these days.

Cheap sparkling water FTW.
I habitually have it before and mid-breakfast to try and slow things down a bit.
Juice is deadly.

GOOD coffee and tea need no sugar or other contaminants and are good appetite suppressors.

And wet food where possible ...

I haven't had sugar in my coffee for over 20 years. I've been accidentally given sugar in my coffee a few times and I nearly threw up, but I do add sugar to a lot of my food... Some things need sugar.

I've been getting this stuff, with the full intention of making tinctures/ extractions with it. However it generally seems to make its way into quite mental Martini's

Mine is a little cheaper but if you want to extract oil, 95% is better.

Not for oil. I was looking at salvinorin A tinctures as I have loads of the plants taking up window space, with an ISO extraction, evaporated, then using ethanol for the tincture.

Maybe in the long run my head will be better off if I stick to the martinis

Checking the progress of this year’s scrumpy. This is the first sample of “Old Wobblegob” which is made with apples from my friend’s garden and named after her much missed Chocolate Labrador (RIP Max 😘). This year’s harvest wasn’t too good so made up the numbers with elderberries and pears. Lovely colour and even though it’s not finished yet, it’s showing a lot of promise with a big apple heart and some nice tannins and fruitiness from the elderberries - plus it’s chilled straight from the garage. Will try it again just before Xmas.
