What's in your glass?

Which gin subscription do you have KatyF?
I've got Craft Gin Club atm but I'd like to try some of the others.
PM me a referral code if you've got one!
I have one with these guys: Gin! Its a friend of a friend so I'm probably a bit biased with it! I've only ever had this subscription so not sure how it is pricewise with others.

I think there's a code for £10 off your first order if you fancy it, can pop it over!

Yes please, I'll give it a go!

That's not a bad idea, and who doesn't like getting gin delivered. Had two bottles of Lemon Top gin delivered today - it's an alarming lurid yellow so don't know what it will taste like. :hmm:

Henry Weston's Vintage is well worth a look in. £1.80 on offer in Sainsbury's down from 2 quid. 8.2% gives bang for the bucks and tis what is in my glass.
I bought some from Aldi and it was only :D 6.8%

Very nice though, 750ml bottle means one is enough for me.

I think it is specially made for Aldi. Henry Westons bottles have Henry Westons Vintage on them & not H.Weston & Sons. If it tastes good though & is good value then who gives one.
I picked up 2 more bottles yesterday in Aldi. Sounds like it’s a bit of a technicality but will look for the genuine article next time I’m out and about

Enjoy the Henry Westons 8.2% tonight  Very nice indeed.

I probably paid less than a fiver for this in Aldi 8 or 9 years ago ...
It is now very smooth indeed - serious well-rounded red fruit.

That's a good policy - I used to "keep" wine in the under stairs cupboard, and also found that an "ordinary" bottle of supermarket wine was really very good 4 or 5 years later.

Nothing lasts that long in this house now.

decent wine is hard to come by around here so I always used to buy more than I drank ...

I was looking forward to a booze-free week until some muppet posted a pic of one of my favourite cocktails, the Aviation.

Worse still, I'm out of creme de violette. The bight side is though that, owing to a fat-fingered internet shopping experience some years back I still have two bottles of chartreuse left so I'm about to embark on making myself a Last Word. Much like the Aviation, I regard it as an underappreciated gem.

Who are you calling a muppet :D Don't think I don't remember you :D
I am very fond of chartreuse (green) and strega when not hitting the violets.

I'm afraid the M-word had to be invoked for reminding me of a gap in my stash, and this'll mean I probably need to schlep to Gerry's Liquors tomorrow to see if they have any.

Strega I've never had in a cocktail ( I struggle to think of how I'd crowbar it in to one) - only ever as a digestif and (rather excellently) as an ice cream.

Corpse Reviver
1 1/2 ounces Strega liqueur
1/2 ounce dry vermouth, such as Dolin
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
3 to 4 dashes Angostura bitters
Ice
Fresh bay leaf, for garnish

Most curious - I've never seen a corpse reviver made with strega before; I'm quite partial to the number 2 myself.
