Made Tuna and Salmon fishcakes with Rocket and Couscous lastnight. Pretty nice fodder.

Nice and healthy but washed down with a bit too much cider.

My best laid plans of homemade pasta and veggie/pine nut sauce were postponed cos I couldn't be arsed to cook & someone paid me lol; so we went to the Chinese and had a starter plate for two with Singapore noodles.

Starter plate was spare ribs, beef satay, chicken satay, some sort of fried filo type pastry with a sweet chili sauce, crispy seaweed (no, it wasn't cabbage) and prawn paste thingies. Pretty nice.

I hate Byron's branding more than anything - I'm surrounded by badly line drawn 'naive'cowboy images, saying things like 'Trah uh By-ron' in speech bubbles. Cos all the best cowboys would go for overpriced burger in a chain owned by merchant bankers.

Thanks for that. Suddenly Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar look to have more integrity and appeal

Didn't mind the burger there fwiw. Decent enough, but there again it should be for that price. It's one of those places where it's ostensibly not too bad, but then you pay hefty amounts for side orders until your bill mounts up all too quickly. Nigh on £7-8 for a burger would just about be ok, but £3 for chips and more for salad. More frilly knickers than substance imo

Today's takeaway I reckon. Both of us have been eating later and later as commitments - including cat feeding/pampering and plant watering down the road - seem to take up a little too much time for it to be less than a rushed night.

Quite fancy a burrito, a brown fish stew, chinese, fish and chips or piri piri. I get the feeling that I won't be fussy tonight.

You know, I very nearly wrote a parody post about what you (tarannau) would have to say about Byron burger but couldn't be bothered. Thankfully, you did it yourself :D

The burger was alright mind. I'm just not sure it's worth the moolah to sit in a fairly anodyne restaurant with unwitty branding. Not as bad as those cocks who snuck some unwanted beetroot in my burger at GBK - do I look like a fucking Kiwi or something?

 ;)

I think, on balance, I'd rather make do in the dayglo brightness of McDs and save myself the money. Or somewhere a little more distinctive for the same money - Camden Brasserie, decent pub or similar.
