I had a chicken and chorizo sandwich from Eat for my tea..Tommorow im attempting homemade burgers with beer battered onion rings, garlic mushrooms and green salad :)

i decided on chinese - curry chicken with fried rice, egg roll, and fried pork dumplings :)

Time to try and work this out!!

Was pretty damn good in the end.

Chilli was made with a
which is a bit of a cheat but I was low on stock. I added onions, garlic, a little paprika and pepper to it and it turned out pretty well.

The winner of the night was the potato wedges (thanks sheothebudworths and sparklefish for this idea) which were:

  • Par-boiled for about 10 minutes
  • Then I got a mixing bowl and dumped a lot of butter in it
  • Added crushed garlic, paprika, cumin, black pepper, mixed herbs and cayenne pepper to the butter
  • Dumped the potatoes in this spicy, buttery mix and tossed for a while then left to stand for five minutes
  • Whacked them in an oven tray and into a pre-heated oven for about 25 mins.
  • Served with mature grated cheddar on top

Took my time with careful preperation but the whole meal was actually pretty simple. It was one of those meals that you eat till it hurts but I still have some left for lunch today!!!

Wicked

:D

Winter comfort food for pants weather :( Braised beef in Guinness with chickpea dumplings. Looking forward to this bit..."add the brandy & ignite. When the flames have gone out....." :D

Chickpea dumplings? Intriguing....Recipe??

Tonight we wil be having pork chops and gnocchi in a cider, cream and mustard sauce a la Nigella Lawson. She ate 2 chops the greedy mare. I actually can't stand the woman but the odd recipe of hers hits the spot for me...

A mishmash of chicken/peppers/thyme that I've taken out of the freezer. Will have with pasta or rice, whatever I have the most of

I didn't have nachos last night, i had seafood linguine instead.

So tonight i'm definitely having nachos topped with spicy refried beans, grated cheese and baked then sprinkled with fresh chillis and chopped tomatoes from the garden with dollops of guacamole and sour cream. YUM!

A fish pie - smoked haddock, salmon, king prawns and peas in a bechamel sauce with a rosti potato topping - with brocolli and courgettes.

Went to Asmara for their veggie Messob banquet. Delicious as ever. Probably cook a curry tonight.

either pasta and cheese, or a takeaway curry. kids have got chicken and chorizo stew with rice but mr feyr is working till late so we wont be eating till he gets back

Bacon and stir fried chard with mashed potatoes and onion gravy. Plus will probably make some baba ganoush for lunch tomorrow.

Sausages with something, maybe roast new potatoes and green beans.

Or these...

^ this seafood linguine that you're very fond of - how do you do it Scally?

:D i do have it quite a bit!

Chop up a chilli and saute it in 1/3 olive oil and 2/3 butter, add large chopped up clove of garlic til soft.
Squeeze 1/4-1/2 of a lemon into the pan and add some zest
Add the mixed seafood (prawns, squid and mussels), a handful of chopped corriander, a glass of dry white wine and a splash of brandy (optional)
Add fresh linguine to the mix anc cook through until the pasta has cooked and most of the sauce has reduced, takes about 5 minutes.

Easy, quick, tasty and only one pan needed! :D

I bought a pound of really good stewing beef this afternoon from the butcher in Blackheath, so once I've finished my cup of tea I'll be off to start getting a casserole together.
