What's for tea tonight? (#8)

What did she do with it? I have some in the fridge that I don't know what to do with

I normally slice in to medallions and fry up with onions garlic, either white wine or cider and a little cream.
Serve with potatoes and green veg.

I personally find it stays juicier like that.
Probably my crap roasting skills though that dry it out whole.

I've always wondered what century eggs are like, fermented aren't they? For how long?!

Dunno tonight, by the time I get home from work it'll be half 8ish, pizza maybe? :hmm:

I think it's a chemical reaction or something and they used to bury them in clay but now just do something more modern with alkaline. But I'm not really clear. They smell really bad though.

We went to the village for tea and had snow peas with tiny bits of ham, broccoli and garlic, and aubergine in a rich brown sauce. Then on the way home we got spicy tofu on a stick. It was all lovely today, thank goodness!

does anyone know if you can freeze apple crumble once its cooked and its got the crumble on it? :hmm:

I don't see why not! :hmm:

Just me tonight and I'm using up leftovers....coconut and tomato dhal, a teeny piece of pork rib and a teeny amount of rice with green beans.....and errr.....chocolate fudge cake for pudding? :hmm:

Pastrami sarnies again today, to use up the rest of the packet. Maybe a couple of apples for afters.

And century eggs sound and look hideous!

Still got lasagne left so that, with a few oven chips if there's not enough. Roll on payday, the freezer is getting a little bare.

I fancy snags n mash though that's probably too unhealthy as we're meant to be trying not to eat bad stuff so much.

Erm. Jacket spuds with sausage slices and beans? :hmm: The sausage slices offsetting the urge to grate cheese all UNDER* the beans? Oh I don't know. Fuckit. Pizza.

*You know it

I looked as to what needs using up in the fridge this morning and I reckon it'll go something like:

Grilled Mushroom and bacon polenta (two rashers of bacon left and some sweaty chestnut shrooms)
Bed of mixed leaves in a balsamic dressing (leftover half bag of mixed salad leaves - slightly browning)
Parmesan and creme fraiche sauce (back end of a piece of parmesan and 1/4 tub of creme fraiche)
Poached egg on top and sprinkled with toasted sunflower seeds (2 eggs left that go out of date today)

Does leaving the potatoes unmashed but slicing the sausage alter the nutritional value?
Hmmm

....I don't think it does does it...

I don't care anyway. It's for the women. They see a load of mash and it's all 'oh no my thighs', however a jacket spud covered in butter, which they won't even eat the skin of anyway, and then it's 'I'm so healthy now I can have three snickers ice creams'

Summat with veal mince in it. I suppose it will be veal spag bol or I'll figure something out involving spuds, as I don't have much in my cupboard

CHIPS
The chip van comes round on a Tuesday so chips and perhaps a fried egg
Payday is tomorrow so no money for fripperies such as fish or even a sausage :(

This doesn't really belong here but doesn't deserve it's own thread.

I picked up the waitrose kitchen magazine at the weekend as it's free for card holders. It seems that Pippa Middleton has her own column in it and this week it was an 80s themed meal.

Mushroom vol au vents, chicken Kiev and arctic roll. No hint of irony at all, this was her fucking menu.
Why are people giving her work?!
