What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Don't have slow cooker, I do have portions of food in the freezer but the last few days even getting up to make a cuppa seems like a mission  [\tired, lazy, indecisive]

Sooooo, it was a bit disappointing really! It was actually called "Soul Food", not "Street Food" and is supposedly a fusion of Vietnamese and Korean.

They basically had 3 things on the menu with each coming three ways (chicken, beef, or veggie/seitan) -these were a nori roll thing with rice (I think a bit like a temaki), a korean spiced burger, or a version of bibimbap which came in a box (Boximbap!). we both had the veggie bibimbap which was actually pretty nice. Oh, they also had a special, kimchi chips, which seemed to be potato chips with spices and spicy beef and sauce on top.

Oh! That sounds a bit odd. Boximbap! :D

Spinach and tomato dahl with mung beans instead of lentils for tea tonight. Served with brown rice and cucumber salad.

If the rain continues I won't be going out, so it will be pasta with chilli pesto, and the remaining oyster mushrooms from yesterday added.

Did a full roast this evening nice pork joint that I brought home from work for £2, and a pile of steamed veg and roast potatoes, stuffing, yorkshires and gravy. Delish.

It was supposed to be sausage and mash with a red wine gravy but my card was declined yesterday so no spuds and I drank the wine. : D Thank god it's payday tomorrow!

Then we were going to have sausage and chips but I couldn't be bothered so we had pasta bolognese (bol out of the freezer).

This is very, very, very good.

Garlic, cumin seeds and a chili fried lightly in olive oil. Add chopped onion (red and white in this case) with diced potato, carrot and a pinch of salt. Simmer with pan covered with foil for 20 - 30 minutes.

Remove foil and add chopped tomatoes and sliced peppers. Turn the heat up for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with oregano and ground pepper.

Place 4 fillets of haddock on top of the vegetables and replace the foil. Leave on a low heat for 15 minutes.

Serve with fresh bread.

Giving myself 8/10 for this. Very tasty.

e2a; Lemon zest and juice was added at some point. I can taste it now, but forget when it went in the pan.

As the weather's a bit down in the mouth, and I'm trying to make myself not be, I'm gonna make a veggie sausage and chickpea stew tonight, with peppers, toms, etc. And wine. And big old cuddles :)

It's my birthday today, but I'm celebrating tomorrow.

Tonight, a cheesecake and a pint of cream. Going out for dinner tomorrow so it will be BBQ ribs, pulled pork, steak, gumbo and whatever else the fuck I want :D

Ringing out for a Chinese tonight. It's been a hell of a day - my mum passed out earlier on and it was really fucking freaky - and cooking's the last thing I want to be doing.

Blimey nvp! :( Is she alright now? X

My son's gone out with his pals for his second birthday event that is not actually happening on his birthday :D going to the cinema and then taking his mates out for PIE (he's been very much looking forwards to saying 'THE PIES ARE ON ME!' lol).
Was supposed to be finishing off the rest of the ribs today but my daughter and I did a massive trek round town getting bits for our holiday (not entirely successfully *sigh* ) and I can't be arsed, especially cos after doing some of them yesterday just for my daughter cos she won't eat lamb...she decided she didn't like the way I'd done THOSE either  so am going to have to adjust them a bit... so we popped into marks and got a couple of pizzas so will have one of those with some salad.

Hope your mum is ok NVP.

It's payday so curry delivery for us.
Midweek managers special-2 mains, 2 starters, Bombay potato, rice and nan for 15 quid.

Might have chicken ceylon, deffo peshwari nan.

Hope your ma is ok NVP x

I had the pasta last night \o/

Not sure tonight, have some veggie feta cous cous and falafel left over from lunch, so maybe that :hmm:

Not much in but managed to make something quite tasty.
Cooked some chopped up cherry tomatoes with garlic in some olive oil, half a cup of peas, some ground coriander and cayenne pepper.
Spaghetti cooked up and then tossed in olive oil and loads of black pepper.
The former served on top of the latter and a smattering of cheese.
It was actually surprisingly nice.
I love peas :)
