What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Need some 'use stuff up' inspiration people.

Needs using:
Carrots
Broccoli
Large red onion
Large white onion
Half a tin of chopped tomatoes

Can add any of the following:
Rice
Pasta
Green lentils
More chopped tomatoes
Tomato puree
Tin of black eye beans
Plenty of garlic
Some chillies / chilli sauce
Vegetable stock
Seasoning /spices

Onions, broccoli, carrots, peas, vegetable stock, seasoning, garlic cloves, black eyed peas, half tin of tomatoes and tomato puree all bodied up. Added a lump of St Agur blue cheese and blended to make a thick veggie cheese soup :)

It is very rich

Tonight is a woopsie extravaganza.

Amongst a load of 5p veggies I picked up some woopsie chicken livers yesterday that I made into pate.

I had a 1.5lb chunk of filet beef in the freezer that I picked up in the woopsies last month for a fiver, so tonight it's my first ever attempt at beef wellington. Made my own shortcrust pastry for the base, but come over all lazy for the crust and bought some puff (the shame). I've just done some garlic mushrooms in red wine for the base and intend to sear the fillet, slather it in goose fat (home bargains is knocking it out at £1.50 for a big jar), coat it in pate and the pastry, with an egg glaze and bake until I can no longer wait. I'll knock out a sauce by deglazing the pan with some more red wine and serve with new spuds, woopsie asparagus, and carrot batons.

Well that's the intention, fingers crossed. If there's any pate left over that will do as a starter

Heat has zapped my appetite. Housemates attitudes have zapped my will to cook, or clean. I've eaten nothing more than an omelette for Two days.

Tonight, I am very slowly munching my way through a mixed spicey salad with sardines and a bit of bread.

With red wine.

Last night me and my boy had a butternut/cauli/spinach/pea/king prawn/mussel coconut curry with a bit of toasted wholemeal pitta bread...and an eclair for pudding.
Tonight it's unexpectedly just me (both kids having sleepovers) and I'm having roast chicken thigh, sweet potato wedges, some posh (shop bought) coleslaw and a massive pile of PSB.

Lush dinner tonight.

Warm rotisserie chicken, minty new potatoes, feta, cous cous and salad with garlic olive oil dressing.

Strawberries, meringue and ice cream later if we can squeeze it in.

Singapore noodles with extra tofu. It was rank. Still have half it in the fridge.

I'll have a guinness for supper to make up for it.

barbeque heaven today...the sausages were toulouse and garlic from Tescos finest....we had the French fam over and they approved without delay!!! alright so there was a salad done with watermelon, mint, spinach, lemon, feta cheese and toasted flaked almonds and another very simple salad of watercress, lemon, sea salt and pepper. Spare ribs and burgers with all the works....lots of Tiger beer and whiskey sours.

A 350g pack of Herta Frankfurters. Yes, I know it is 2am, but I've had a long day. :)

Did you heat them? Any other food cooked or served with them? Did you even get them on a plate man?

Heated up in simmering water, and eaten off a plate just by themselves. Salt and protein delights!

Good work :)

A pack of Herta Frankfurters rarely get combined or prepared in our place. I try to keep myself back but they are too easy and tasty.

Barbecue for us today, too
Chicken thighs, which I'll prob do a chinese marinade for, and pork shoulder steaks which I think I'm going to cut up, marinate in lemon/rosemary and garlic and then put on to skewers with some courgette and yellow pepper. Also making a greek salad and a green salad and we have some Tesco finest coleslaw...plus some garlic and parsley flatbread.

Roast chicken and something, probably assorted leaves, mixed veg, and bread, bombay potatoes, or lemon & coriander couscous.

well, we have just arrived back in Berlin, after having been away for the past month, and of course it's a Sunday so no shops are open and we have nothing in the fridge.... so, erm, takeaway? or I might be able to scrape together a dhal of some sort...

I kind of fancy the same again. We bought some sirloin steak in the tramps buffet yesterday so I might defrost that and get some more spuds.
