I'm making a selection of mini pasties (bacon and mushroom, chicken and leek), followed by a brioche galette (showing off to my girlfriend)
worth a trip up green lanes. never eat kebab unless im down there visiting! so much choice. and the delis are grand too.I do too if I can find a decent kebab house. Which means hardly ever cuz there are none in the vicinity of Brixton (or work for that matter).
You mean up there? Yeah, by far the best area for kebabs and Turkish in general.worth a trip up green lanes. never eat kebab unless im down there visiting! so much choice. and the delis are grand too.
I've got a whole chicken that needs defrosting and similar treatment tomorrow.Chicken, hacked up to remotely similar sized chunks, in a roasting tray with chunks of potatoes, onions, parsnips, carrots, garlic and turnips/swedes (delete according to your naming preference) then I added ground ginger and ground coriander seed and ground cumin and a few cardomom pods and fennel seeds and black mustard seeds and a squirt of lemon juice and a dollop of oil and mixed it all up
It's in the oven now, on a low temperature to cook for the rest of today and the smell is driving me round the boody twist. I might actually have to go out, to stop me attacking it before time.
It was really yummy! hooray! followed by guinness and then lager and then white wineHave a good one, menu looks great
I just used butter/normal flour, because I'd made it earlier. But supposedly bread flour, lard and margarine is the one to go for.what pastry recipe are you using? been told to make me own cornish ones.
what's wrong with lard (in pastry)?lard
what's wrong with lard (in pastry)?
you've probably eaten plenty of delicious, lard-filled pastry in your life and not even noticed!just the thought of it. But that's just me!
i recently bought 2 melton mowbrays from the shop (they were discounted) and they are fantastic. i bought 2 more just now. i have long avoided pork pies but probably cos ma bought cheap crap ones.innit, pork pies - yumm!
i like fried bread in lard too. only occasionally mind.
i never thought to eat them hot til i tried that on. i always eat them cold.yeah, they have to be hot. with cold ones the middle - a sort of pink hockey puck - falls out and its unpleasant. what about gravy on em tho?
