What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I did a three courser last night.

Prawns in garlic and chilli butter with parsley and coriander.
Salmon and leek pasta with creme fraiche, mushrooms, parsley, dill and garlic
Chocolate souffles

I also knocked up some garlic and herb butter and made some garlic bread.

Bottle of Prosecco to accompany.

Luckily the gf decided to surprise me wearing nothing but the underwear I got her for Christmas before hand :D

My son's off on his skiing trip tonight...they're leaving at 10pm and have a 16 hour journey  so I'm doing him two huge crusty rolls with barbecue chicken, mayo and cress and he has a four pack of mini pork pies, a chocolate muffin, a large packet of Doritos, two apples and a packet of Galaxy 'counters'....I've told him that out of all of it he HAS to eat the apples  (AS IF! :D ).

But before he goes I'm doing us a massive sirloin steak each (was half price in Tesco the other week  ), mash mixed with steam/fried shredded sprouts with cheddar on top, melted under the grill and asparagus.
I was going to do a mushroom sauce too but....well, tbf, I just can't be fucking arsed :D

You really should bother with the sauce. It really doesn't sound like you're doing enough at all  :D

I did say to him....would it be the difference between a *perfect* meal and an *imperfect* one :hmm: ...and he said Wellll, yes! :D

But yeah, fuck that :p ...I've packed all his stuff  put away a Tesco delivery....am on the second washload...and have to deliver him to his school and then walk all the way home when I know I'll just want to be in my bed...so he can fuck off, tbf! :D

They're not getting a meal till tomorrow night though...and I just KNOW he'll have eaten the lot by the time they're off the ferry...

Sausage casserole type mash up.

Sausages (6x nice herby pork)
Onions (one red and one white)
Garlic (not sure if diced or whole cloves in at the start)
Tinned tomatoes
Mushrooms
Big Leek
Chickpeas
Parsley
Stock

No spuds in the house sadly. Have some rice and pasta :hmm: but I think it will just be bowls of the sausage casserole type mash up. Maybe with a toasted pitta on the side for dipping and mopping.

I am now having griddled asparagus for starter, a rack of lamb with a herb crust and bean gratin, a bucket of wine and a bowl of darkstar/juicyfruit, accompanied by music, reading, interwebbing and NOT TELEVISION! woo! yay!

I've hoicked some mince out of the freezer. If it's defrosted in time, burgers with salad. If not, maybe dhal and samosas.

eta at 7:45pm
burgers tomorrow, dhal tonight

I did summat similar last night...sausages, celery, mushrooms, onions, tin of tomatoes, garlic, carrots, black-eye beans, breadcrumbs, dried Italian herbs (can't remember what herbs that's made up of) served with crusty bread.

Double cheese burger with fried onions and brown sauce in a crusty floury chunk of bread, can of cider on the side :)

Gnocchi with peppery blended watercress, parsley and garlic, topped with roast tomatoes. I also made some salted caramel sauce to go with vanilla ice cream as a Saturday treat.

today I have mostly been eating the world but dinner was chinesey chicken wings and salad. and wine.

wrong thread but had beans on toast an hourish before swimming and think it made me more sinkable :D no lunch on swimming days from now on!

dunno but something substantial i hope. Been teaching all day and accidently bought in a defrosted tub of chicken stock instead of leek and potato soup, so lunch was an apple and a cup of tea :mad::(

Stir fry. I bought a wok the other week, and my favourite local butcher was doing some very nice-looking marinaded chicken, so I'm stir-frying that with some suitable veggies.
