What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Massive batch of really nice veggies cooked - chestnut mushrooms, chopped up broccoli, peppers in tomato sauce with a little bit of onion. To be served with pasta.

I'm getting really bored of my normal meals. I try and make big batches of vaguely healthy mostly vegetarian stuff and freeze it. I am heartily sick now of lentil soup (all kinds of soup in fact), bolognese, chili, shepherd's pie, and stew.

It's been pissing it down all day so my son didn't go out and I decided we badly needed some veg :hmm: ...so made a veg bake...onions, garlic, spinach, asparagus bottoms, tenderstem and normal broccoli and carrots in white sauce with potato slices and cheese on top...and I made the spiced turkey burger mix ready for tomorrow and then made the leftovers into little patties to have with the veg bake.

Just about to have mine but my son asked for seconds, so I'm hoping it's nice (although there's not much left now  )!

We've eaten it now but it was so good I have to tell you.
Starter was gin soaked salmon fish cakes
Main was pot roast leg of lamb in ale with cauliflower cheese, black pudding with cabbage androast potatoes
Pudding was chocolate fondants with rhubarb baked in orange and vanilla and vanilla ice cream.
Stuffed
:)

We were going to do a Monday roast seeing as we didn't have one yesterday. But the gf has just informed me she's been running to the toilet every ten minutes to throw up. Norovirus I suspect. Poor thing.

And no, she's not pregnant :D

Red & white pasta with a cheese & ham sauce, walnut bread, and posh salad.

Encouraged my my last successful attempt at cooking tea, I'm making shepherd's pie tonight. I only ever attempt to cook things that fit into one pot, no need to worry about timing then :)

We're having the dinner we didn't get round to yesterday as we were hungover. : o

Lamb Wellington, roast spuds and carrots, broccoli and green beans.

Might make a red wine gravy too.

I've also made a pie. I say made, it was a packet of apple and blackberry filling and jus rol from the tramps buffet.

I had some pastry left over and thought I'd decorate it. I didn't know what to do so I used my ikea animal cutters and it now looks like a rocky and bullwinkle pie. : D

Artichoke-made stir-fry.

She hates sauces :D And most flavourings / spices, tbh, except garlic. (Unless someone else puts them in, in which case they're ok).

So what 'stir-fry' tends to mean is just-wilted (and unseasoned) vegetables, with unseasoned prawns, with a clove of garlic somewhere towards the bottom of the pan. And with a mahoosive loading of wok-ready noodles, as she loves carbs :D

I think I'll need to work up a hunger first :D

e2a: Ooo! Just remembered. I can buy chilli / sauce whilst out / building up an appetite, and then add them to my bowl. Problem (mostly) solved!

Prik nam plah - fish sauce, vinegar, chili, garlic, spring onions, mix and sprinkle over your bowl.
