What's for tea tonight? (#8)

pancakes. one cheese and sweetcorn then one cheese and pickle then one nutella and squirty cream.
Chemistry had marmite on his.

and cava.

We had fish finger sandwiches as an early evening snack, we were supposed to be having pancakes (some with lemon and sugar and some with maple syrup) as the main event but I only got as far as making the batter before running out of energy. The batter is in the fridge and will become pancakes either Weds night or Thurs lunchtime. Pancakes are good. Fuck lent and all that, any excuse. :D

Baked spuds with leftover tarka dal, sag aloo, roast pork and green peppers in chilli and black bean sauce. And cheese, chilli sauce and mayo, obviously.

I'm lolling to myself at the idea that Mr Yu_Gi has constructed a solid gold web of lies about his long haul takeaway trips, when he's actually going off out on the lash, having a wild night out.....waaaaaaaaayheeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy!!! all that sort of thing  .....then time for a sleep and a shower and then eventually back to you with a takeaway that he's fetched from any one of the massive number of places right round the corner from you (but which you errrr.....have just *never noticed* :hmm: ) to have his back patted and his cheek kissed for being so very, very kind and good.

My daughter had to have a tooth out last night and I had a filling, so we didn't have the pancakes we were supposed to have....and just poked bits of egg mayo and bread and butter into the working sides of our mouths instead  :D
So we're having pancakes TODAY - tradition BE DAMNED - and my mum'll be down too, so she'll enjoy them. Only thing is it's my daughter's turn to cook  *FRAUGHT* :D
Chili and grated cheddar savoury ones then good old lemon and sugar for pudding.

Oh Sheo! :D

Poor you and your daughter's teeth. When you say chili, do you mean con carne, or just chilies and cheese? :hmm:

Careful, hot oil and naked skin don't mix :D
Trust my experience, it really doesn't mix at all!!! DO NOT fry your gentleman's sausage!

Anyway, stir fried beef with ginger, chillis, spring onion, garlic and oyster sauce. Quick and very easy to knock up. (Wish there was a Chinese near here :( )

Yesterday's left over stirfry - my secret method to make Tesco's ready-prepared family stir-fry vaguely edible - apart from the soy sauce, tahini and chutney, is half a bag of cheapie frozen peas near the end.

One kilo of peas plus two stir-frys = 4 teas - for a fiver.

Something with the pearl oyster mushrooms that we've grown from one of these kits:

http://www.fungi-futures.co.uk/category/grow-kits/

We've tried mushrooms kits before with really poor results, but these kits are amazing. We've got a fantastic 1st crop and hopefully we'll get at least one more out of it.

Not quite sure what I'm going to cook - either creamy garlic mushrooms on toast, or some kind of pasta dish.

CON CARNE, for the love of fuck! :D

*Vom* @ pancakes, pure chilli and cheese! :( :D

Tbf - I USUALLY do bolognese and cheddar in them....but I had some MILD (fackin KIDS! ) chilli in the freezer already, which is much of a muchness....sooooooooo, easy option etc

I actually made: chicken thighs marinated in a home-made spicy garlic yoghurt dip then baked. Grated courgette, mushrooms, garlic and pancetta fried on the side, served with couscous, grilled halloumi slices, and pumpkin falafel. :D

As I was making it I was thinking about how much my quality of life has improved now that I've started cooking things rather than entirely living on tinned soup, takeaways and microwave meals...

I did think you were bringing up your kids to be hardcore chili eaters!

tonight I made peach & mustard pork chops, baked asparagus with olive oil & parmesean curls, garlic mashed potatoes and a strawberry kiwi cheesecake.
