What's for tea tonight? (#8)

That recipe is terrifying. I was intrigued to see how you'd get around the oxymoron of vegan cheesy peas tbh, but this alternative including maple syrup, sweet potato, cajun seasoning and cider vinegar sounds frankly bonkers. That's before you start sprinkling on the recommended garlic and onion powders, mustards, evo (?) and yeast flakes. It sounds like cheesy pasta re-engineered by particularly unprincipled renegades from the pot noodle factory.

Anyway, tonight i think I will be having leftover curry. Or that's what my overspilling fridge is telling me at least

Just reading that list of ingredients is enough to make me feel sick. FWIW "evo" is Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

hungover takeaway pizza. will be phoned by me but collected by my sleeping partner. Yesterday we had a large mezze had a festival which was silly delicious.

more baked potatoes and meatballs in tomato sauce (from the freezer), with green beans and broccoli.
The last cornetto enigma for pudding with a back rub :)

Ottolenghi's caramelised garlic tart - it was amazing! :)

served with a simple spinach and tomato salad, and homemade coleslaw.

Had my friend staying for the weekend and we existed mainly on a diet of wine, with some burnt pizza and cheese on toast thrown in at some points  so this evening I'm doing a PROPER DINNER...a roast half leg of lamb with roast garlic rosemary potatoes, steamed courgettes and broccoli.
Will use the leftover lamb to make a shepherds pie for tomorrow or the next day.
Melon for pudding.

I made beef stock on Saturday so today I will use that to make a split pea and sausage soup with some nice crusty bread.

Special occasion last night so it was fois gras and duck. Fuckin' lush it was...

I need a veggie attack tonight so lots of them plus a veggie cottage pie AND roast potatoes. Plus gravy and getting my lounge on.

Got some chicken - weather doesn't look good for a BBQ but I might jerk sauce it and do it in the oven. If so I'll do rice and pea.

I am home alone for dinner so can eat all the foods which are currently on the "forbidden" list but I have to use up some bacon so it'll be
pasta and creamy spicy bacon lemon sauce instead of sausages and lentils (i'll have those next week when he's away!)

Shepherds pie (already made the filling, so just gotta stick some mash on top tonight  ) with broccoli. Can't wait cos it's a shit old day and just what I'm in the mood for!

Last night, instead of melon, we ended up having warmed lemon curd frangipane muffins with the last of the clotted cream :D so will have some melon today!

They sound lovely sheo, do you have a recipe?

Not sure what's for dinner tonight, but this weather is making think of spicy butternut squash soup so maybe I'll make a batch of that and it'll do me for lunches for the rest of the week too.

They're DELICIOUS!

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall ones (which I add a lemon drizzle icing to).
They freeze really well so I do a big batch and then just reheat them once defrosted.

Recipe here (and note the instructions for replacing some of the flour with ground almonds to make the frangipane ones, although I didn't use almond oil and added vanilla extract instead for a TRIO of delicious flavours :D )....

Btw - Callie made em and had a bit of trouble with them, but that's probably cos she didn't actually follow the recipe in the first place :p ...defo important not to over mix when you combine the wet and dry ingredients too though!

Cheers sheo, I've printed the recipe and I might give them a go this weekend.
lemon curd is one of my favourite things
