What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I'm frowning deeply about that microwave business though. Jacket's have to have to be oven-done or they're a travesty IMO. The thick, tough, crunchy skin is the best bit!

roll them in oil and sea salt, then bake em on the oven rack until soft inside and crispy outside :)

Last night was venison sausages, cheesy deauphinoise potatotes and peas.

BBQ for today - wild boar burgers and sticky pork ribs. Haven't decided on a salad yet, but maybe something crunchy like Waldorf, if I've got any Waldorfs in.

I'm just about to put a gammon joint in the slow cooker.
With the addition of shallots, garlic and plenty of green lentils so I can blitz the cooking liquid and turn it into tasty soup.
Tonight I'll serve the gammon with cauli cheese, new potatoes and runner/french beans.

Roast chicken, sweet pumpkin curry, rice, pepper and tomatoe salsa/salad.

Friggin lovely and I can' wait to eat later.

We had cold curry for lunch and neither of us could be arsed to cook so we've just had sausage sandwiches.

We might have strawbs and cream later if we can be arsed. : D

Too lazy to get the bbq out. Wrapped the ribs in tin foil and slow roasted them for 3 hours in the sticky sauce with roast potatoes, carrots & garlic (using new homemade lard) and asparagus with gravy.

Ranks amongst the top 10 meals I've ever eaten.

Sounds lovely ringo.

Y/day my missus made 2 currys, pumpkin and sweet dumpling squash, which is a strange looking thing to be fair.

Aswell as the roast chicken.

Was wonderfully full. Have all 3 to pick on today now too.

Food is great.

Sigh. Lack of money = us on econodrive this week, not even any booze :( Last night's tea was carrot and lentil soup, using the accidentally-grown massive carrot from the back yard, onion, garlic, and the half bag of lentils I found in the cupboard. Tonight we are on chips, homegrown salad, and homegrown spring onions chopped up fine and chucked into a cheese omelette.

Getting a Thai takeaway tonight.
Quite fancy this: "32. PLAA JEUNT Trout deep fried then served with a ginger and pork stir fry as a garnish."

The soup that resulted from this is tasty, but fuck me it's bloody salty too.
In hindsight I should have soaked the gammon overnight before I cooked it.
I think I can solve the problem by making a huge batch of lentil soup (without salt), and adding it to the salty stuff.

Tonight's tea is egg, chips and the rest of the gammon (or chips, eggs n gammon if you insist soj :p)

We're having chicken breasts stuffed with Philly, roasted peppers, tomatoes, red onion and garlic with new potatoes. Can't bloody wait. : )

Er, something. Definitely something. And a mug of tea, that goes without saying.

a fried egg, 3 slices of bacon and some fried mushrooms washed down with 2 pints of cola

not at all healthy but very yum

We had the wild boar burgers I was going to bbq on Sunday with crusty bread a big salad with mustard dressing.

Tonight is smoked mackerel, leftover dauphinoise potatoes and steamed broccoli.

Going to have a big, late lunch today so dinner will be a small discreet affair that creates little washing up. Possibly some of the leftover Couscous or something less adventurous.

Yup, first time either of us had tried boar. I knew we'd like it 'cos it's porky but it was more, um, cow like maybe? Dunno, anyway, it got the thumbs up, we'll definitely have it again.

Tex-mex vegetarian chilli for us tonight, with corn tortillas and possibly some guacamole if it ever stops raining and I go to the shops.

I enjoy boar but eat rarely like venison or other game meats. I think last time was wild boar sausages cooked in red wine, shallots and other such finery.
