What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Just had a look at the menu of the place I'm staying in atm and this sounds good:

Rolled pork belly, apple, mustard mash, braised leeks, pork crumb, gravy.

Ladt night I had West Country glazed duck breast, dauphinoise potato, charred hispi, orange purée, jus, and it was bloody lovely.

Phwoaaarr!!!

Don't deny us photos!!!

I fucked up my sweet potato hash, I tried it in the air fryer and it just burnt the onions and parts of the potato, so ended up putting it back in the pan, but the damage was done and there was a lot of bitter bits and the eggs stuck to the pan. I think I will try it again, but just in a pan and give myself more time to cook it lower as the non bitter bits were tasty.

Bowl of muesli with frozen raspberries, yoghurt, walnuts, maple syrup.

I absolutely CBA to cook at the minute. I looked at Gousto but it seems a bit light on vegetable content of the meals. Might try Riverford recipe boxes :hmm:

This week however I have already got spinach, parsnips, carrots, a butternut squash and a psychedelic cauliflower to get through, not to mention the portion of kale I have failed to eat for about a week. (I mean the root veg and squash will keep and the cauli I will def eat as salad but they do need to be eaten at some point.)

A hearty storm-fighting tea for us tonight - buttery mashed spuds, Linda Mc country pies, Savoy cabbage, peas, caramelised onion gravy.

Mint tea and a slab of double choccy spongecake for afters.

Very unimaginative, fish cakes and broad beans which I couldn't finish, my pears weren't ripe enough for a postres. And the fish cakes were soft because I cooked them in the oven when perhaps they should have been grilled.

I am in awe of some of the lovely food you lot produce, I need to get more adventurous.

A mushroom risotto type thing made with orzo instead of rice. It's an experiment!

Works really really well, you don't need to stir it constantly, just add all the stock in one go then stir every so often to make sure it's not sticking - otherwise treat it much the same.

I love an orzotto, in fact I probably prefer them a bit to risottos (although it's close). I usually do a mushroom one for me and OH or sometimes do a chicken and bacon one for myself when I have leftover roast chicken to use up, lush.

I'm starving! I'm having a shepherd's pie ready meal, steak cut chips done in the air fryer, peas and gravy.
