What's for tea tonight? (#8)

hummus & spinach sandwichs and crisps washed down with Brains (welsh beer) I found in Lidl (They had 2 diffrent kinds, pale & dark, I have one of each)

A very studenty mountain of spiralli pasta with olive oil, fried onions, chorizo, spinach, chilli flakes, sour cream and a dollop of boursin. Topped with extra mature cheddar. Crème caramel and chai tea for dessert.

One of my faves!

I had Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni this evening.

It was fucking immense  I excelled myself with the sauce on this occasion. I've just had to put the leftovers in a tupperware container in the fridge to stop me nomming bits of it straight out of the ovendish  :D

Spaghetti with tomato and olive sauce, and a lamb's lettuce salad. 'Exceedingly good' victoria sponge finger and strawberries.

Just made a really fresh, zesty chicken curry.
Fried in a little groundnut oil, onion, garlic, Ginger and chillies.
Then added ground coriander, cumin and turmeric.
Then chopped tomatoes and chicken thigh fillets (amazing find as I love thigh meat but can't be arsed with fiddling).
When cooked added yogurt, fresh squeezed lime and freshed chopped coriander.
Served with pilau rice and garlic naan

sounds lecker.

Pesto win last night - first time. Fuck me it was well lush

As I suspected, my stupid blender did not blend it. There is quite a deep well beneath the blades and the stuff just didn't catch, so I scooped it all out and pounded it with pestle and mortar. I'll just use them in future.

Tonight am not sure...possibly a BLT, possibly chips n egg n mushy peas

pounding it with pestle and mortar is the best way, as that releases all the flavours/oils in the basil properly.

Yeh, I wasn't certain of the finished volume so although I did think about doing it straight in the p&m, I thought I'd try the blender first.

Deffo gonna do it again very soon as I have half a packet of pine nuts left. The flavour was immense, have to say

It's well worth the effort isn't it Soj?

I think I'm going to do a risotto tonight with some bacon lardons and the rest of the broad beans from the garden.

Moussaka and salad

One of my faves!

When I saw you'd posted that yesterday, nipsla, I thought THAT'S WHAT I WANT! and immediately changed my Tesco order to get the ingredients AND to move my delivery forwards to this morning instead of this arvo (TO HELL with the extra quid!!!) so that I could get it all made in time, hehehe!

Have actually made a larger one and a smaller veggie one with puy lentils, so *should* have lots left for the freezer.....so long as I don't go the same way that you almost did (and indeed, the same way I actually did when I made a lasagne last week) and scoff most of it before it's even cooled. :-|

So WE ARE HAVING THAT, with a little bit of warmed tear and share cheese bread stuff and some salad.

Aaaaaaaand - we've got an apple pie and single cream for pudding, too! OMG, OMG, OMG - ROLL ON DINNER TIME!!!!!!

I like Moussaka other than the damn aubergines :(
My mum use to make a lovely one with potatoes instead which was lush.

Aubergines are such amazing vegetables to look at. Why do they have to have such a bloody weird texture :(
