What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Ended up making the lasagne....then eating half of it  :D Had another portion fro brunch which leaves ONE PIECE for the freezer (if I hadn't been so bloody greedy I could really have got six smaller portions out of it - one last night, one today, FOUR for freezer) :D

So the bulghur/king prawn/courgette/pepper thing tonight, if I can be arsed, or a boiled egg and toast if not.

Last night we ended up at The Calcutta Club and shared:
Puppadums and chutneys (the tamarindchutney was gorgeous, sweet and almost cinnamony), garlic naan, butter chicken, paneer makhani and pilau rice which was all delicious.

Tonight we have some pork belly from the butchers which I'll roast with some honey and spices and have with ratted and something green :)

Southern fried chicken with croquettes, and leftover couscous (with a little bean stew, soured cream, cheese, sesame oil, cashew nuts, mint, soft apricots and flaked almonds). had snickers for dessert along with four Foxes crunchy fudge biscuits. As this was two hours ago now on chai tea, and a large pack of Roast Beef Monster Munch.

We had the asparagus flan with home grown potatoes and homegrown salad.

And home laid eggs I s'pose but we're used that.

Toasted panini with some chicken escalopes and salad ( i went shopping this time)

I'd rather have had chicken breast with some kind of spicing instead but real meat is pricey

Tapasy stuff. Roasted beetroot (homegrown) with goats cheese; peas and spring onions (homegrown) with green beans and smoked bacon; chorizo in red wine. Nom :D

I envy your shopping trolley

It's a real status symbol these days, tells you people are educated and intelligent looking at the basket.

Mine is full of value shit, bit of a cunt for a trained chef.

God I never thought I would have trolley status anxiety

I bought a cauliflower today

Thanks to the anti cancer story they are now £2!!!

Two fucking quid

I'm making calcannon on mass tommorow, one savoy, 6 spring onion, a sack of value spuds and a bit of cheese.

Tbf it's window box anxiety you should have :D

Going out tonight and we've already had the menu so bits n bobs from this lot:

Homemade Flatbread with Hummus & Baba Ghanoush
Roasted butternut squash, goats cheese & almond salad
Breaded brie with red currant and thyme jelly
Sweet potato wedges with garlic Aioli
Pea & sage tortilla
Newlyn fish cakes with homemade Tartare
Chicken goujons with chilli jam
Lamb koftas with Tzatziki

I had all of the above. *stuffed* :)

I'm having a pasta ready meal (in a pot thing) from Waitrose as it was reduced from £3 to £1.50 yesterday. I will bulk this up with plenty of salad.

I'm more worried about what I'm going to eat for the rest of the week as I'm silly low on money. I have money but not from my weekly budget IYSWIM. As it goes I have £25 till next Monday.

Red cabbage and beetroot salad + a Tijuana bean salad with cod and/or salmon, prob' a bit of warmed tiger bread too. Am a little sozzled so am as hungry as a mutha fucka.

Is £25 all for food? With some planning and a fair bit of pasta it can be done. Not easy but most of us will have done stints like this one. Not much fun but then when you get a good meal in ya it tastes loads better.

I got a chicken for roasting then the s-I-L invitedus over so we're taking the chicken with us(to eat, not As a guest!)

K i made the calcannon.

It's bloody amazing, you use the worse leaves of a savoy cabbage, two spring onions, a handfull of value potato, just a bit of cheese grated in, I'd use stilton if you have it.

The whole shit cost £3 and it's enough to make daily portions for 4 for quite a few days, maybe a week. Consider it's £3 for premade and that's enough for two (at a push) for one day.

Minimum fuss, takes 15 mins and it's lush posh bubble and squeek. You could add a touch of double cream and more cheese but i like it bland, I dont even use salt.
