What's for tea tonight? (#8)

me too Epona
This might prove controversial (it isn't a popular drink), but I wish I could get Retsina more easily - it's an absolute pain in the arse to find though. I did get some from Lidl last year but it was a one off thing rather than something they regularly have in stock. A glass of retsina with my chicken dish would have been perfect.

After much deliberation, I have decided on porcini mushroom and ricotta tortellini, in a passata/garlic/oregano sauce, with garrrrlic bread, and a watercress/spinach/rocket salad in a creamy garlic and herb dressing.

We have a bajillion bits of choc bars hanging around in the cupboard, so a concerted attempt will be made to clear the backlog :hmm:

tell me more about these please :)
Freeze a malt loaf. Slice as thin as possible with a decent serrated knife. Put on a baking sheet in a low oven (100c) for a couple of hours. Smash the crisps up. Stir into ice cream. It’s mostly crunchy but has chewy bits too. Ideal with ice cream.
Apparently it also works well with Jamaican Ginger Cake

This is going on the list of things to try

Chicken thighs plus major veg clearout - sweet potatoes, 3 heads of garlic, loads of small red onions, a head of fennel, and a tin of borlotti beans, all fashioned into a stew.

I left the garlic bulbs whole, just rubbed the papery skin away, but it was the fennel what done it. :)

That will do me and maybe my neighbour for the next day or two. :)

Finally got round to roasting a piece of pork belly that's been sitting in Chinese 5 spice. I was supposed to do it on Sunday but didn't get round to it.

I thought I was having it with some nice crisp cucumber and lettuce but the salad had gorn orf so I've ended up eating a pile of meat for tea. I'm going to pretend it's a keto dinner rather than just a pig feast. Oink.

Got lots leftover to do some porky egg fried rice tomorow. Must remember to add something green to that.
