What's for tea tonight? (#8)

It's not: use better tomatoes, or use parmesan/mushrooms for added glutamates. Save the worcester sauce for less simple, non-Italian dishes, I reckon. Shepherd's pie for example.
I personally don't see the necessity of ever using it. It's not in my proverbial condiment cupboard, though I do confess I did occasionally plunder my old flatmate's Henderson's Relish for the odd late night drunken cheese on toast

Smoke as in toke, or smoke as put in the smoke-house?
Ashamedly, dry out and toke, just a certain type tho' which used to be found on the West Coast of Ireland (Dingle).

At the time (86) I used to think it was the business, but it may have had something to do with the poitín we'd drink when smoking it at the céilidh's we'd be shaking the good foot at.

I quite like a dash of L&P in many a recipe, but not where simplicity counts. Meatloaf perhaps, bloody mary yes, slow cooked bolognese with good ingredients, no.

I looked it up and it does seem that it's an Irish food-stuff I'd never heard of. Slightly worrying that you lot thought to smoke it.... As you say the moonshine might've eased you onto those paths. :D

We were advised by an elder that it was good to smoke, we also used to get a hip flask of poitín, a bag of dried dillisk and climb the hills (full of mushrooms) west of Ballyferriter to the top where you could sit, smoke, sip, overlooking the Blaskets and the Atlantic, tripping beautifully - then stumble down the hillside and make our way into Dingle for a night of dancing.

I've eaten it too, but only mixed with dried cubensis :)

My mum just gave me a Tesco's Finest sausages / mash / onions / gravy shizzle for one, so I'll be having that for dinner. Have had it before, and it's not bad at all actually!

I'm going for a qourn & mushroom pie, roast potatoes, roast chantery carrots, mange tout, broccoli and gravy.

Tomorrow I'm doing a spring veg casserole, garlic bread & baked sweet potato.

Two dinners on one plate: fish fingers and peas, fish cakes, broccoli and corn on the cob.
I fancy banana and frozen yoghurt for pudding.

Result, Mrs R had already started cooking for the kids so I've done us a green lentil dal, spicy mushroom masala in a tomato and cream sauce that I made up but must approximate an Indian dish I don't know but have probably eaten and pilau rice.

Pancetta, pappardelle with peas, portobello mushrooms and parmesan. Well and dolcelatte and mascarpone too, but they ruin that 'p' thing I was building up there.

i want both of your dinners :(

last nights Jamaican curry which i microwaved and now makes me feel EVIL!!!. :( with a Sainsburys naan (part defrosted, and baked) the result was scarily GOOD.

baked beans, quorny slicey things, and a FREE jacket potato c/o sainbury's! thank you foodgods!

Was supposed to be backed chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in parma ham with asparagus. Unfortunately, we both got home too late so it was actually a fishfinger sarnie for him and a salami and blue cheese sarnie for me cos we only had enough fishfingers for one

Pea and mint tortellini. An odd combintation of tortellini but it kinda worked.
We had it with parmasan and black pepper but I think it needed a bit of baby leaf salad to go with the mintyness.

i found a leftover lager from last week in my pit - i'm having it for pudding :hmm:

I ended up having a late lunch of peppered mackerel and lettuce sandwich so dinner was two glasses of wine, some baby tomatoes and a whole jar of pickled jalapeños and olives. :hmm:

Mmm sounds good ringo - got the recipe for that?

We're off out tonight, so a snacky tea of poached eggs on beans on cheese on potato cakes

Phwoar!
