What's for tea tonight? (#8)

We tried a nice yoghurt the other night that made a nice pudding - muller pistachio flavour yoghurt with caramelised almond bits. Doesn’t sound great but was lush.

I normally have the schnitzel but they'd run out this time. IKEA is practically across the road from us so sometimes when I'm on my own for an eve I go over just for tea

I took my son to New York and we spent a day at IKEA. Partly for lunch but also because the ferry goes past the Statue of Liberty and is free. When we came back and people asked what he'd done in NYC he just shrugged and said, "mum made me go to IKEA":facepalm:

It worked! Fried chicken was out this world and pretty chuffed with the pork Chow Mein. Thanks to FabricLiveBaby! for the YouTube link for the chicken and the cook book suggestion some time ago. :)

You are WELCOME!

That wing recipe is the only fried chicken recipe you will ever need.

The best bit is you don't have to use chicken wings. You can use anything (but wings are my favourite!)

Yeah. I'll be cooking them again. Was all chaos, only presentation went out the window. No pepper flakes so used that fermented paste stuff and it was all a bit much, so just used a shit load of honey to balanced it. Was scepticism it would be work even as I was chucking the nice doing fried wings into the mix, but it really does.

If there was any downside the nice chow mein seemed bland in comparison, but I've loads left for my breakfast tomorrow. Ribs next!

Tbf that does sound like a pretty good ikea trip ;)

I'm away working so hotel food but lush hotel food even if it is a simple hotel. They have a geo thermal greenhouse so all the fruit and veg comes from that and they fish their own fish (but its not the sort of place that bangs on about local sourced bla bla gathered by artisan maidens in the morning dew). Tonight Halibut followed by Skyr cake. I'm a mega pig and massively look forward to the last day when they give us all their best foods all day. We get home made waffles with wild strawberry and cream and that is just coffee break.

Had a 3 course meal served at a 'real junk food place' so food that was donated rather than going in the bin then paying what you can. I had grapefruit & mint starter & my partner carrot, ginger & coconut soup with croutons. Both lush.

For main we both had cheese & potato pie with beans. The other main was chickpea & kale stew. For pudding apple crumble but like a trifle. The other pudding was rice crispy cake. We both had a coffee too.

Our family 'can't be arsed it's Friday night' restaurant of choice. Always packed!

Eta. Our first vegetable stew and dumplings of the season. Followed by homemade apple pie and ice cream.

I bought a steak the other night with the intention of having steak and chips tonight. But I went out with work last night and ended up in a steak restaurant  so I’ll have to think of something else for tonight.
