What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Wednesday was a chicken and fennel stew with couscous.
Thursday was lentil and bacon soup.
Yesterday was micro burgers for the kids  wine, then Mexican corn soup and toast with crab pate for me and Pringles and cream meringues for all of us for afters
Did a bit more cooking this morning but not quite as manic as the last few Saturdays - a pizza dough to cold ferment in the fridge for Weds, some butternut and sage soup for lunches, a chicken/potato/creamed corn soup for tomorrow and my girl made some apple crumble cookies which are well nice
We just had breaded cod fillets in rolls with lettuce, thousand island dressing and plastic cheese slices and tomatoes with s&p and beetroot on the side.
My daughter has blitzed through her homework today and I've done a mountain of paperwork and form filling and filing - so once she's finished shredding all the stuff I've cleared out :D we're going to watch a film and share a pot of Cadburys Flake ice cream

I went to the Manchester Vegan Festival (in Salford) today and have eaten a vast amount of food already but also brought home some vegan pies so we're having a macaroni not-cheese pie and a not-meat and gravy pie with mashed potatoes and processed peas.

Roast cauli, broccoli, squash, onion, garlic, potato and veggie sausages.
I would have quite liked a lentil shepherd's pie really but I'd have had to boil the lentils, make the tomato sauce, cook and mash the potatoes - then the whole thing gets cooked again - who can be bothered?!

Just serve the lentil mix next to the mash. Save the second cooking.

Although you have reminded me I love this with sweet potatoe mash and havnt made it for ages!

Surprisingly good soup :-

Poured some boiling water over some dried shitake mushrooms and sea veggies and left to soak for a bit.

Chucked 75g of wholemeal couscous in a pan with 300ml of water.
Bunged in the mushrooms and sea veggies
added a can of diet veggie soup and a lump of miso.

Gently brought up to the boil.

I even resisted pouring tahini on it.

Rave recovery chicken pie, mash, buttered cabbage and gravy. Cooked double portions of mash and cabbage for Tuesday night bubble & squeak

Tonight is leftover Indian. We tried Ghurka Cottage after the rave reviews on the Brixton thread - great choice, thanks all. I had to try the much mentioned black dal and it was lovely. Had it with a duck starter and mushroom rice. Everything was good, and at least a tenner cheaper than our previous place

It's bank holiday tomorrow and we've had Agent Sparrow and mellifluous lady visiting from London so we've got the day off today. I ordered OH and I a chicken selection box each and a big bottle of coke from domino's and we are eating it in front of Star Trek, under the duvet on the sofa bed with the curtains drawn

On Friday we all had burgers at a place called Quentins :hmm: and on Saturday they ate pizza and chicken (I wasnt hungry after too much excitement and just had a couple of the left over chicken strips). Yesterday we had BBQ food at the football and then I had a cheese and ham wrap when I got home.
