What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Yesterday was a Subway veggie delite as was at work. Wed/Thurs I have no idea but I'm sure it will be lovely. Going to Bristol for 2 days so will be eating out somewhere not yet known.

Which is exactly what I had, with crisps. Mr Looby had Mexicana cheese and salami.

Magnums later.

I'd forgotten all about Mexicana cheese. It makes an amazing cheese toasty among other things.

We are having 'beef' and broccoli stirfry with rice or noodles haven't decided.

It's some kind of fake meat beef. It looks like it might be nice.

This was really nice. As well as the 'beef' and broccoli, also in the stir fry: two types of mushroom, spring onion, red onion, chilli, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, coriander seeds, juice of half a lime and soy. Topped with sriracha, spring onions and squeeze of lime. Noodles underneath.

Anyone got any tips to make a beef stew a bit more special? Going to brown meat in flour with some seasonings etc, bung in slow cooker with veg and stock and leave for the day and put dumplings in at the end. Not something I normally cook, but at work and it's been requested. No booze aloud sadly.

The best beef stew I ever made, I marinated the beef in ginger, spring onion and chilli. It was an Asian style stew in the end and very lovely. Prob not quite the thing you are wanting to make though.

I thought it might be too hot for a baked potato with all the business but I was completely wrong and it was great.

Tonight will be some sort of fish, whatever looks nice, with some sort of sauce to suit the fish, with new potatoes and sugar snap peas.

If my Fathers Day present of a pizza oven arrives I might build that to use at the weekend too.

No. Never understood why you're supposed to eat cold food when it's hot.
It's not very hot today anyway

I'm having a Chicken Madras. Ben and Jerry's Cookie dough ice cream after mind.

It's more the stodginess of the risotto than it being hot tbh. Weighing heavy on your belly.

And Voley - we were eating tomato biryani on Sunday night. That's mega-hot spice-wise, but not very stodgy.

More of this
I made an exciting discovery the other day when making a puy lentil dhal - if you put chopped halloumi in it, it tastes exactly like paneer! Gonna give it a go with spinach I reckon.

Anyway, tonight's tea is Linda Mc mozzarella cheeseburger, chips, and salad, and a load of chopped red onion mixed with the juiciest Elegance tomatoes from the co op. Wine first though
