What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Me as well. I can hear the neighbors mowing the lawn and I should really do so.

Back to food related matters I've got some cool ingredients to play with tonight. Beetroot that was harvested yesterday and onions and garlic that are so fresh that they haven't yet dried and so can be chopped in a totally different manner (lots less cook time obviously to make the most of them). Also got a tiny bit of PSB. Going out with a gardener has its advantages. :)

Going to do a sweet potato and lentil thing. Got the recipe from an Anna Jones book and I've not simplified it and made it my own. Lots of fresh veg to with it help excuse last nights excess.

Sounds lovely.. I love beetroot. My friend does a great Sri Lanken beetroot curry.

We are off to pub so lunch/dinner I'm hoping will be veggie chilli with half rice & half homemade chips with lashings of cider (well maybe 3 pints! Lol)

I love beetroot and curry can't believe never thought of that. Can see it being very red!

There was a pub I used to go in the Peak District that served there chilli with rice and chips. After a days climbing I used to rate a place for the quantity of food they served.

My healthy lentil based stuff went out of the window as we got invited to a bbq. Still it was a proper grown up bbq. There was salad and everything.

Still means all that cool veg needs to be used. Doing a roast tomorrow though so all good. Realised that the stems on the beetroot look dead fresh so going to try cooking them with the kale to see what it's like. :)

I'm actually melting in the heat, being stupid enough to be doing jobs in the garden for most of the day. I've said I'm going to cook a roast, but that seems a shit load of effort. However I'm away for a week tomorrow, so if I don't then I'll end up wasting the chicken. :(

Roast the chicken anyway and have chicken salad or sarnies?

Pitta with various fillings for us, nothing that requires using the cooker though! It's way too hot.

Last night was not veg chilli in the pub as I got drunk and forgot to eat! Went for a curry and shared tikka paneer with salad, paneer Kharai, mixed Indian veg Buna, rice & naan. It sent me into a curry coma. Wobbled home and straight to bed!

Tonight is shop bought spinach & ricotta ravioli with a homemade tomato sauce with mushrooms & red peppers then topped with cheese and baked in the oven with mixed leaves on the side drizzled with balsamic.

We were invited to a BBQ with lure of gin but my head has been banging all day and will not cope with even a hit of hangover tomorrow!
