What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Last night I went out for dinner with a work mate to celebrate her getting onto a masters course. We shared sweet potato fries, nachos, chicken tinga and pork pibil tacos. It was gorgeous. Plus we had bottomless margaritas so I'm feeling a bit rough this morning.

Not sure about tonight, either chicken kiev and chips or lamb skewers with cous cous and corn on the cob.

Right now I need someone to bring me something greasy asap.

I did red onion, mushroom and bacon frittata, new potatoes in butter, chives and mustard, salad, piri piri hummus, goat's cheese, a soft cow cheese and wine.

I caramelised the onion in the bacon fat, it was proper.

Veggie stir fry tonight.

Managing pretty well with this no meat business. I did start craving chicken wings last night but they don't exist here, well not decent ones anyway, so that's that.

People at my work seem to eat really gross looking meat products, which is also helping

Oh bloody hell. Girlfriend has just asked if her parents and sister can come round for dinner (for the first time) . I love cooking and don't entertain enough as I don't know many people round here, but not much prep time. I'm pretty sure my chicken will be ace, but was experimenting with a new way to cook chickpeas. Sister is vegan and I've used Ghee.

I'm also supposed to doing a sough dough naan and that's proper new ground. Best put rice on to be sure. Fuck. I'm quite proud of my food normally, but feeling proper on the back foot here.

How did it go?

How did it go?

Everyone said they liked it, but disappointed in my self. Doing tandoori style chicken on the bone was OK, but would rather have done breast which I've got nailed. Did some new potatoes to bulk and add variety, which were good, but if I'd have known would have been boiled this morning. Dry they take better flavour. Naan is a bit of a nightmare to work with. I'm really new to baking/working with dough and was a nightmare to get them thin enough without them sticking to everything. Tasted good though so hopefully potential. Tonight was meant to be an experiment night, not have 3 guests at the last min!

My random chickpea thing was very popular, except when GFs sister asked me how I made it and I said about all the yought. She's vegan

However the important thing was that people seemed to have a good time. :)

I probably come across as a right nob when it comes to food on this thread, but I work away so much and cooking what I want to eat in own kitchen is a real treat.

It's easy to be hard on yourself. It sounds delicious and I bet they really appreciated the effort.

Re sounding like a npb personally, I really enjoy reading about what you've been making :)

I got way more pissed than i meant to last night  How's your head today?

Me as well. My gf was tired from a long day, so went to bed dead early and just kept supping as I cleaned the kitchen and pottered about. I'm more lethargic then actually badly hungover luckily. Turns out I also made loads of Kombucha, started a loaf, mixed e-liquid and did online shopping. :D

Cooked breakfast lunch and steeling myself to head outside. You?

I had a cooking disaster in my drunken state. Made some delicious garlicky, peppery mushrooms and then had a salt mishap all over them

Not feeling too bad today. Got quite a bit of sleep which always helps. As well as a LOT of fizzy water. I've spent The day so far listening to music and putting together a new playlist. The sun is shining here so I really should go outside
