What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I've got my weekend at home for ages. Making stuff. Just started of a sough dough sponge (only baked bread once and that was with a mix). My other half has left me a shed load of carrots that were almost turned so they are becoming a soup. Maybe some flap jacks as well and got 20 pints of turbo cider to bottle.

Going to tandoori style chicken as the last one was lush and been thinking about it all week whilst in my bunkhouse. Got some pre marinated lamb chops and going to do a big pot of dahl. Tempted to do the lamb kebabs Thimble Queen suggested, but think that's enough food and it would only be eating them.

Ohhh you've just made me think of two delicious carrot things!

And there's a carrot based spicy salad type thing my mum used to make but I can't find a recipe for it. I'm really craving my mum's food atm

That sounds interesting. Although sod making the almond milk. That's a fair bit of ball ache and the results were no better then the shop bought stuff.

:D :D I've never made it myself.

Tbh I'm crap at doing indian food. The best Indian food cooks I know (family members and friends of fam) do it all by eye and taste and I can just never get it right that way.

I'm still pretty basic really, but although I've got aim at is indian takeaways and lower cost resterants, so fortunatly I don't have so high to aim.

I normally cook by eye and taste as well unless I'm trying something totally new which uses ingredients I'm not familiar with or in very different ways.

I can do it with basic things like spag bol or chilli. I'm good at those things. Maybe I just need more indian practice.

I have had a 7 day stint at work so have not made food at home since last Friday which has felt quite odd!

Will have to wait until tomorrow now as off out to Warehouse Cafe in Brum (vegan/veggie). No idea what I'm having though.

I'm doing a veggie paella. It's been a while since I attempted one. I used to be able to cook a really good paella, but when it comes to doing a veggie one I struggle a bit.

I find the Ottolenghi one foolproof and delicious.

We're having mushrooms roasted in red wine, served burger-style in a bun, with all the fixings.
Some discs of roasted spud on the side.

It's similar to asparagus wee stench - quite strong and proteiny. But then my kidneys are a bit fucked, so it might just be me leaking protein, although it only happens with pate. :hmm:
I never get down and sniff to see if my asparagus wee smells funny either. Always wondered about that.
